Turns out that not everyone buys a video card to play Quake.
Loads of people like to play "Firefox," "Word," "Filemaker," and "Minesweeper."
My integrated Intel graphics chipsets play a game I like to call "xterm" far better than any ATI, since ATI has horrible support under Linux.
And all they meant by the loss of momentum was marketshare, not performance.
