Not surprised.

These days it's cheaper to replace the whole product rather than have an expensive employee investigate and try to repair it.

Before I dumped them, I had an awful experience with 5 separate NTL set top boxes with each one doing everything but allowing me to watch what I actually wanted. The end result was a problem with the software rather than anything that could be resolved by physically servicing the box.
