    servers is servers.

    The biggest announcement from Dell was around the Dell Management Console. Where's the review of this?

    Boo, poor support for 1333mhz memory

    Dell's new R610 and R710 rack servers don't support 1333mhz above 24GB of RAM, it jumps down to 1066mhz if you want 32GB or more. That's a big shame as I wanted the fastest possible speed. It's good to see they're quick to put these servers onto their UK website. I like the new energy efficient PSUs.

    This may be a thermal issue - does IBM and HP support 1333mHz with greater RAM in the same rack unit configuration?

    Memory on Nehalem

    Intel recommends 1 x 1333MHz RDIMM per Channel (DPC) for Nehalem systems - see their site.

    Using the highest current capacity (4GB) RDIMMs that would be 24GB on a Dell R710 (12GB per CPU). Above that you would look at 1066 or 800 MHz DIMMs to get to higher capacities (144GB is tops using 800MHz DIMMs).
