NetApp guarantees virtuality
Big deal #

"NetApp ...provides a GUI for users needing to provision virtual desktops...they can be created almost instantly. A single VDI image can be replicated, NetApp says, "hundreds of times in minutes while using almost no additional storage capacity." It relies on NetApp's FlexClone technology, a feature of its storage array's ONTAP operating software, for this, and links it to VMware's View Composer."
Gee, you mean like what Sun VDI 3 already has, using OpenSolaris, VirtualBox and ZFS?

'cept I don't need tonnes of expensive proprietary hardware and software pieced together from about eight different vendors to make it work...which is why I am choosing it over any other "solution" for our PoC.
So how about it Reg, how about some less biased journalism about what Sun is offering and shipping *right now* - or are conjecture and rumours giving more hits to your site these days, hmm?

So how does NetApp expect to make money by selling "virtually" no storage? By lying perhaps?
