    Of course they are hedging their bets. They can't afford to develop a new Altix x700 architecture for Tuckwilla, although Ultrviolet was purported to be a design for either Xeon or Itanium.

    Don't you just love Barranchea's biz-speak: "interesting and compleeling" sheesh.

    Xeon has become itanic

    Back in 2003-2004 I saw intel roadmaps merging xeon and itanics using the same socket/power. You should even be able to populate both chips into the same motherboard.

    Itanic was supposed to become a floating point double precision CPU.

    But the entire business model behind itanic changed when opteron arrived and Intel was forced to introduce 64bit into their IA32 line. The roadmap eroded further when multicore where introduced.

    CloudRack C2

    The CloudRack was a Rackable product, not an SGI one.

    Also, SGI seem to have exited the visualization market (yet again) - not much sign of last year's Virtu hardware on the current website.

    SGI is dead and was bought out by RACK... RACK then changed their name to SGI. The SGI you are looking at is not the same SGI that it was...
