The report above says:
"Ten patents are cited in the suit, covering integrated circuit design, serializer/deserializer (SerDes), TCP offload engine (TOE), remote direct memory access (RDMA), Fibre Channel, and Fibre Channel over Ethernet technologies..."

Hold up. Waitagoddamnminute. WHAT?!
They hold patents for this, and they're GOING to develop the tech?
Does that sound completely thick and bass-ackwards, or is it just me?

Emulex directors held out for big piles of cash, Broadcom said no, too expensive, drop purchase.
Emulex now going to lose big time over patent infringement (probably - Broadcom are quite successful at this)
Emulex directors watch price of shares drop.
Hmm. perhaps they shouldn't have been so greedy?
