There is the Celerra NAS head and the Celerra Unified Storage Platform. http://www.emc.com/collateral/hardware/comparison/emc-celerra-systems.htm

Celerra USP supports (and has supported) both block and file system access. Nothing new in that. Celerra USP is a NAS head integrated with a CX4. EMC combining NAS and SAN isn't the news here. Been there, done that.

Looks like NetApp has been right all these years..

This is a smart and long overdue move by EMC. From where I sit, the mid range mainstream arrays are the sweet spot for most customers, and it's actually a tricky problem to get right as most vendors forget the NAS part :)

Let's hope they make it a bit less complicated

It's a right pain to specify all the bits for CX and NS - not like Dell's EqualLogic, where you get all the software thrown in for nothing.

  Everything all-included just means that you re-pay for it every time you expand the array. In the end, you pay either way. There are pro's and con's to everything.
