    What RAID level is that...?

    "The replaced FAS6080 had 16 cores, using dual-core Opterons, and 1,176 1TB SATA drives to give its 1.2TB capacity maximum; that has been more than doubled. NetApp also says the 6280 has more than double the performance of the 6080."

    What RAID level do 1,176 1 TB SATA drives give you "1.2 TB capacity maximum" ? I'd suggest RAID1 with 1,174 hot spares... :-)

    Usable capacity?

    Hmm, just cos it holds more spindles doesn't mean it outscales all those other high end arrays - by the time the various NetApp overheads are taking into acount, that 2.9PB of raw capacity theoretical max will have trimmed right down!!!
