    "Theft" my ass.

"With the $1.3bn in damages awarded to Oracle over the TomorrowNow theft"

You misspelled "creative reuse of resources that would be permissible in any sane economy"

    WOW

That's one nice chunk of change for oracle, but asking for interest on top, man that's just jamming the taser into the testicles and hitting the "stir fry" button

Oracle firing on all cylinders but all of them firing blanks ......?

    Oh dear, how very revealing.

Oracle do not have the knack for making fortunes and have to rely on the money supply of other to keep Larry afloat, and in the lap of the luxury he is accustomed to ....... which is too much like a Ponzi Program to be anything different, surely?

    Classic

    It's an M&A.

It's about cash flow, revenue growth.

Who cares *how* they do their business (what business are they in again exactly?)

How exactly Oracle extrapolated $14m to > $1Bn (and got the court to *believe* it) is a mystery. Oracle didn't deserve to win but I'd say SAP did deserve to loose.

Our German friends have received a spanking worthy of the Moderatrix.

    WTF?

    Interest? What's that?

Certainly not something I get paid on MY savings.

Grumble grumble, macroeconomic mumble and mutter.

    You misunderstand the move...

Oracle doesn't really expect the courts to award the interest unless there is something to show that SAP intentionally dragged their feet on this case.

Normally you'd see the interest awarded if SAP had appealed the case and lost the appeal. Then interest would be applied for the period of the appeal.

Since it appears that no appeal happened, then Oracle probably is using this ploy as a way to get SAP to pay out rather than appeal the decision.

That makes the most sense because if SAP were to appeal, it would mean that it could cost them more if they lose. If they win the appeal, then SAP would have to pay less and the 'interest' would be moot.

Oracle is best known for their 'smoke and mirrors' games along with having good lawyers.

    Boats!

Larry's boats are obviously not big enough and he wants some new toys!

When they got hold of Sun didn't they decide to fleece the customers by demanding you pay licenses costs on out-of-support hardware? If it has a Sun badge, you plugged it in and used it, you paid up for it?

    Recovering Sun acquisition costs!

That's what Oracle is doing here! :-)
