    still a large XP installed base

    But you still can run today's software on a 6 years old machine and that's the difference with the pc industry's golden age. This will not translate into massive hardware renewal.

    I thought that when a new version of Windows arrives, you make every effort to keep existing machines running and let other people solve OS version change issues for you.
