    It's SPARC

    It's a TRADEMARK

"Every use of the word SPARC should be in capital letters."

If The Register is going to take the piss out of Apple & co, the least you can do is get it right yourselves.

Why would anyone downvote the correction on a trademark?

          Re: It's SPARC

Someone cares enough to take the time to downvote a correction because they don't care?

If they did not care, they would not have "clicked" to read the comments, read the comment, then "clicked" the downvote button, and then clicked a confirmation again! LOL!!!

I think it is a fair, for reputable industry publication, to respect an industry consortium's trademark. It is not like the author is ignorant, readers have identified the trademark violation multiple times.

There must be a reason for the author's continual conscious decision, to place their employer in legal jeopardy, by continuing to violate the trademark.

It could be something as simple as passive-aggressive behavior, but reporters are supposed to attempt to show themselves as unbiased.

P.S. If you are talking about Google, then it is capitalized. If you are using it as a verb, I would suspect it is not. Wikipedia has a pretty short article on trademark protection, and how Google is discouraging the incorrect use of their trademark through legal means.

    Numbers seem implausible

According to Oracle, their Sun hardware, sans Exa, business has dropped from $1.2 billion per Q to $500 million per Q in two plus years. With that over half drop in sales, T sparc is growing... not only growing, but vastly outpacing not only the Unix market as a whole, but servers, including x86, as a whole. In order to believe that story, you have to believe that everything other than T sparc is close to nominal sales.
