back to article BlackBerry CEO: Reports of firm's death 'greatly exaggerated'

In a move oddly reminiscent of a Monty Python sketch, interim BlackBerry CEO John Chen has urged enterprise customers not to heave the ailing smartphone vendor onto the plague cart to be hauled away just yet. In an open letter distributed on Monday, Chen insisted that BlackBerry's recent misfortune was only a flesh wound, …

    Security...

Post-Snowden, so long as they can stay on top of security and corporate device management, they have a chance as a specialist vendor.

I hope Chen is working on his German; an endorsement from Dr. Merkel might be a good way to start.

I guess the funeral date hasn't made it's way to his calendar yet - he must be using one of those buggy BB10 handsets.....

Ouch. To paraphrase my demotivational poster it could be the purpose of your company is to serve as a warning to others.

Actually Merkel's BlackBerry WAS NOT HACKED, she was using a different handset and aparently the spooks were eavesdropping at her conversations at the GSM-layer (which is well-known to be completely insecure, nowadays anyone can decode it in a car, even real-time.)

Regardless of what happens my BB Q10 is still be best phone on the market. No other phone has as good of a keyboard and full Flash and Java support in a mobile browser. Until I get this tri-force of power in another handset I'm staying put.

My Pre3 does - but I get your point.

Upgrade time soon and I'm trying very hard not to get a Q10. I really, really want one.

Windows Phone has better security though. BB10 was already completely compromised via a Flash exploit.

BB10 security is weakened by it's Android / Java support and its lack of appropriate sandboxing - as per Snowden we know the NSA can access Blackberry (and Android) handsets remotely.....

That's not the general view - we have had lots of BB10 handsets returned by unhappy users. They much prefer Nokia Lumias.

Running which software version? If it was pre-10.2 then things have changed quite a lot.

        Re: Not 'Greatly Exaggerated'

Yeah last time I checked, iPhone users are really suffering without flash, get over it, flash is dead and no one cares if the BB10 can handle it or not. As a note iPhone sales must also be suffering because of the lack of flash. That been said, no one said the BB10 isn't a great device and if they did, no one cares. Stop having a dig at iPhone users for no reason and comment appropriately on the article.
