Debt collectors are literally circling the factory of a Chinese supplier to Samsung, where the assembly line remains halted following allegations that it hired underage workers. Samsung, which claims to have a "zero tolerance policy on child labor," said in a statement last week that it had temporarily suspended its …

"Upon hearing about the factory closure last week, China Labor Watch issued a statement claiming that Samsung, as Dongguan Shinyang's primary customer, should bear the brunt of the responsibility for the impact the work stoppage will have on the company's employees.

"If these workers are fired due to the sudden reduction of Samsung's production orders, Samsung is responsible for the fair and legal compensation of these workers, who will need to support themselves and their families without a job," the statement read."

So, hold the foreign company that brought jobs responsible? What about holding Dongguan Shinyang responsible? They knew they were hiring underage worker and continued that practice. If Dongguan Shinyang didn't hire underage worked to begin with and when they did discover any, promptly addressed it, then the plant would still be open right now.

Does Samsung continue to use Dongguan Shinyang or do they just find another supplier? Clearly trusting Dongguan Shinyang is not the right choice.

Nah, Dongguan Shinyang is GONE! Completely last months news.

However, Foshan Shinyang, Huizhou Shinyang, Shunde Shinyang and Zhuhai Shinyang are just getting ready to start their production lines..

I'm sorry but China Labor Watch sound like a bunch of idiots now, Samsung have stopped production at the factory, as they should and now it is their fault that workers (many of whom are probably underage) have lost their jobs.

I hate that China has such poor protection, and the way globalization is used as an excuse to cut jobs and avoid fair pay and conditions, but what did they expect to happen.

So what should they do, say its OK to the company? No, the company should be closed down, Samsung are not responsible for workers who happily worked while knowing kids were working along side them. If those workers have no protection then the issue is with China itself
