    Is Kaspersky pro- or anti- Putin?

    Must be hard for them to avoid discovering Russian-origin malware

        the point I was really trying to bring out was that even if they are independent of the Russian government, they must be under significant political pressure to overlook certain types of "infection" caused / created by Russian state assets.

          No, they are neutral

          They maintain strict neutrality by never attributing state-sponsored malware and they have exposed Russian-sponsored malware, again without attribution. (See also Kaspersky's blog on the Bloomberg article.)
