    Strong indication of Cisco stance

    Cisco know the score; the eventual adoption of true white box SDN across the board with only the niche networking cases requiring specialist gear (HFT and other latency sensitive situations). Nothing to worry about yet, it's going to be a migrationary process in the vein of around 10-15 years before we start seeing strong competetion in the commercial networking sector.

    I genuinely think that's why Cisco and all the other big boys are taking their time with SDN (despite the marketing speil) so that they can gradually transition from being hardware centric into more software/service provisioning.
