    Not speculation. They were doing this a few years ago.

    The company were less than happy about the support costs for SAP; especially when it seemed likely that we would be paying substantially more the following year. I had checked out an alternative and put this to the board; who became very interested once they heard about the potential savings.

    A member of staff mentioned this to the consultancy and it got back to SAP; they were on the phone the same day to assure us that they were "holding" the price for us as "valued clients".

      Yep. Used to know four or five guys who either sold SAP or serviced/customized it. If you thought they'd do anything for a sale you hadn't seen what they'd do to prevent a customer from switching to another software.

    If SAP can discount as much as reported, what are the nominal margins at full price. They must be huge.
