back to article NetApp is hyped about its under-wraps hyper-converged system

Albeit late to market, NetApp is developing a hyper-converged infrastructure product, The Register has learned. NetApp Sales Rep:

"Dear Customer, we can sell you the Model T (FAS) or a Chinese knockoff of whatever our competitors were doing two years ago."

"I suggest you go with the Model T. It does everything our competitors were doing 5 years ago, but in one box."

Update: Development of new NetApp HCI Product cancelled

The Ontap development team claims the FAS product can now also do Hyper Converged in 3 years time. To reduce product overlap and roadmap complexity any R&D funds are diverted into Ontap Development, as usual.
