but I'm not convinced the rise is anything to do with XP. A friend in the retail sector said people tend to say that they're buying a PC to replace a broken one, because they've now got enough cash or because they've found that having chucked out the PC for a tablet/smart phone they later found they still needed a PC.
Neither he nor I have heard of anyone replacing a PC just to ditch XP this year. I'm not saying it hasn't happened, just that I don't think it's the main driver.
