back to article LOHAN tin-rattles to a whopping £27,000 on Kickstarter

With six days left to run on our Low Orbit Helium Assisted Navigator (LOHAN) Kickstarter campaign to take the Vulture 2 ballocket mission to Spaceport America, we're tantalisingly close to hitting our £30k target. We thank the more than 560 backers who have so far chipped in for a total of 60 LOHAN sticker sets, 160 mugs, …

    only my opinion

But this is starting to loose the feel of a shed project now.

Not sure if it was meant to, but that was the impression I had.

      Re: only my opinion

I think you loose the sheddiness once you have to hire a spaceport!

It would still be a shed project if the Spanish types had allowed the precious permits.

Well, I've been sitting in the shed for the past four hours testing the new Vulture 2 battery rig. Break for tea and a bacon sarnie, naturally.

So two minutes testing then. You can't rush a good cuppa, nor a bacon sarnie.

    Tankard?

    Shouldn't a tankard have a handle? Isn't El Reg's one actually just a glass?

(Not complaining. I've got one on order. And I'd have another if I could.)

    1. Pen-y-gors

      Re: Tankard?

Quite right! and anyway, only effete golf-playing southerners drink beer from a tankard with a handle. Real men (and ladies) use a straight glass, prererably without that funny bulge at the top.

        Re: Tankard?

Don't agree there tankards are manly and the handle is handy after a few. Glasses particularly those poncy European ones are awful.

    Just a thought

As a result of pipe smoking in my 'youth', I have a crooked tooth on the upper left side. I hope the young lady only does this for the short time required to take a picture.

Yes, we only have around 30 seconds to get the shots before a social services SWAT team moves in.

Not to worry, she normally smokes cheroots, the pipe is just for show.

    Question

I've held off supporting this because quite honestly those logos are cringeworthy, not even so bad as to be good. So there is no way I'm either going to be wearing or drinking from anything with it on.

However I may not be averse to throwing in a few quid if I can do so anonymously. After going through all the rigmarole of creating an account is there a tick box to keep your name off the roll of honour or the possibility to use an alias? Does it take your Kickstarter details or credit card name?

Ah, such philanthropy and I'm not even Tony Blair. I was going to add even he wouldn't admint to that in polite company, but I fear he would.

      Re: Question

Just send us a message on Kickstarter requesting anonymity. That way, you're sorted. We'll have to do the roll of honour manually, so there's no automated process. Better to use a pseudonym on Kickstarter, just to be sure.

Btw, since I know who you are, and you have been so rude about our logo, I'm going to send you a t-shirt and some stickers. So there.

              Re: Question

My mistake. I didn't mean the logo, as designs they're quite good. I meant the mottos. Pathetic, asinine schoolboy claptrap, they don't even roll off the tongue.

You haven't yet. No-one pays a penny unless the target is reached.

      The Kickstarter Page does say

      Estimated delivery: Oct 2014

Just so long as the tankards arrive before "zero hour".

Yup, if we don't hit our target, there are no tankards for anyone. There's a sample in production as we speak, lovingly hewn from the living glass...

The tankards have proved particularly popular,

Maybe place a few more on order to get that last 3 grand?

EDIT. Correction, only 2 grand to go now, well done!!! Looking forward to supping a pint from my tankard on launch day!

I'm toying with the idea of doing the same (i.e. add a T-shirt - no way I'm giving up the pint glass!)

See, this is why alcohol and broadband internet access don't mix.

I've personally funded all of eBay, now I'm up for 3 goodies from LOHAN. Please don't tell my missus...
