It's symptomatic...

Just because the site is free it doesn't mean that Google are doing this for the greater good. There's a business model making money out of us users either via advertising or a subscription to Apps Premier. I would contend that users are entitled to expect a certain level of service in return and it's in Google's interest to keep us all coming back for more. If someone has a bright idea why shouldn't it be acknowledged???

From prior experience, Google are terrible at taking constructive criticism on the chin and saying which things are good ideas that will go on the roadmap (like this), which are nice to have and which are rubbish. I'm not sure if it's an emotional reaction by people so addicted to the Kool Aid that they cannot conceive of anything being wrong, arrogance or incompetence.

If a journalist can find a back door and someone that'll listen - bloody marvelous.

No wow factor

The new Nano really does feel and look like a Mini that breathed in. I like that Apple generally makes a either a big step forward or chooses not to fix what isn't broken. Unfortunately, if you go to find a new Nano with a sense of anticipation, you might feel somewhat disappointed.

Parallels - not 3D but not slimline either

Thanks for an interesting and useful article on the subject. I think that it is important that it is understood that these are different answers to different problems; intended use defines the solution not a head-to-head.

I wanted to say though that Parallels is a lot more capable than providing access to legacy apps or one or two from the current mainstream. I am using a full corporate standard build in Parallels (Office 2003, OneNote, BlackIce, Sophos, Cisco VPN, Java blah blah blah). It runs better than maybe 75% of our estate because the rolling refresh program means that most PCs are dated and nothing is dual core yet for that sudden performance hike in Windows natively. I know that I wont get the Aero interface in Vista in due course but I have OS X for my technosexual thrills (which I prefer at home to the office anyway). Am I worried though that anything corporate will become unusable? Hell no.
