It's like my car, the tyres are only flat at the bottom.

Re: Don't Give In
They're already welded to the posts so it must be people pretending to have it off in front of the signs that's bothering them. Lost in Scotland has their signs welded too, not sure about Mearse Lane in Bell End.
Re: Way Cool!
You can cram 70 LFF disks in 5U albeit in slideout drawers rather than all seen from the front, 8 per rack, just over 2PB.
Re: 'First' prostate snip???
Royal Berks in Reading has also been doing "robotic" prostectomy, I too wonder what's new about this particular operation.
Can an atoll sink?
Isn't an atoll just a ring of coral sand sat on top of an island that's already sunk below the waves? Surely if the original rock island sinks a bit more (or the ocean rises again) that coral ring will just get flooded more often making the biological sand creation run a bit faster. I don't think you can kill a coral island by drowning unless you kill the coral that made it.
Time gentlemen please
They brought this on themselves by moving their timezone to UTC +14; every time anyone flies over Kiribati the islands sink a bit due to rifts in spacetime.
Fronts
Eww, looks like they got them second hand from Dell; hopefully an optional extra that they don't have as standard.
Going slowly in th wrong lane
Is it going to notice someone going slowly in the outside lane with a queue of cars zooming past on the inside with the drivers blaring their horns and shaking their fists?
Assemble in orbit
Rather than putting the nuclear fuel in the reactor robotically on successful ascent they could even get the chaps on the ISS to do the final assembly.
NT is a trademark of Northern Telecom
So in one way a good OS to pick for a phone.
210MB/s = 210*60*60/1000 =756GB/h so a little over 4 hours to fill a tape if your disks can feed it fast enough.
Changes here too
For the last couple of months Google Maps has labeled the road outside my house in UK as the "A329 motorway" even though it's full of busses and pedestrians, that's just been corrected so they must have loaded some better maps.
Getting crowded up there
A few more targets to get hit by space junk.
Sounds good technically
But will it make me have to pay yet more subsidies to people who have the luxury of sunlight falling on their roofs?
@Morteus
MS say Remote Desktop isn't installable on XP Home and looking on the web the only way to install it on pre-SP3 versions is to hack the registry to fool Windows into believing it's XP Pro which is of course a breach of the EULA. Are you sure it's not just the RDP client that's installed?
They're small businesses
They don't know anything about DNS. The fault's really with .COM registry for allowing these sort of domain names.
They keep changing things
Aren't we meant to call it the K–Pg layer now?
Talk about the obvious
The colours are wrong, it should be purple and green.

HP don't make hard disks
Title says it
Hardly new
Known problem, http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?admit=109447626+1303807984398+28353475&threadId=1118732
Does this make Reading more car friendly
Only yesterday Reading was voted as the least car friendly town in the UK.
ad-hoc network
Couldn't you just use a chain of laptops on top of telegraph poles and street lamps?
Strange units
The areal density is 411 square inches???
Just got it out of my trash bin
Didn't trust that the URLs were all email0.paypal.com/...
Home server?
Where do HP say it runs Windows Home Server? Says it uses Microsoft® Windows Storage Server 2008 Enterprise in the quickspecs.
It's compatible with the EVAs and XP arrays so 8 gb fibre channel is not unreasonable.
Learning to read
I realy should read right to the bottom before commenting.
Last paragraph
Fusion IO accelerator doesn't replace the SSDs in blades, they fit in different places. You boot from the SSDs and use the IO accelerator for data.
MSA2000 G2?
Is this the same as HP have been offering under their badge for a couple of months as the MSA 2000 g2, 2312 / 2324?
Max 3 * 16GB quad rank per socket?
"peters out at three quad-rank 16 GB RDIMMs per processor socket, or 48 GB."
As I understand it it maxes out at 8 ranks per channel meaning 6 * 16GB RDIMMS per processor socket, which is 96GB. This is backed up by the HP DDR3 memory configurator which lets you put 96GB in a single processor DL380 G6.
I haven't enough money to buy the DIMMs to test it though.
I wanted to watch a program tonight
I suppose I have to cough up for a new computer since this doesn't work at all on my current one at home.
At least we won't have to cough up for a TV licence for work now though just in case someone accidentally clicks on a "watch live" link on the BBC websites.
Flex 10 Virtual Connect
Virtual connect is not a switch, it maps the blade servers ethernet ports to external ports but it doesn't take part in normal switch activity such as spanning tree and you can't plug external devices (except switches) into it.
8Gb FC Virtual Connnect
"Considering that virtually every mainstream storage supplier positions Fibre Channel as the SAN style for enterprises, with iSCSI the SAN protocol outside the data centre, this limits Matrix' appeal."
Not sure what this means since there is an 8Gb Virtual Connect I/O module.
Is ice water?
They're on dodgy ground about saying three percent of the water on the earth is fresh as well, more than 2/3 of this is actually ice and my dictionary says water is a colourless liquid. Using that definition 1% is the correct answer.
Savvio
You told us on 5th of November that "HP and Dell provided supporting quotes in the Seagate release" of the latest Savvio lineup so it simply has more capacity than the 10K.2.
MSA2000sa 192 TB ?
How do you get 192TB in an MSA2000SA when it only supports 48 disks?
Simple solution
rubber underpants for cattle with a gas bag on their backs to capture the methane.
Number of PSUs?
The C7000 chassis has 6 PSUs if you fill all the PSU bays, not two.
CNN Top 10
I just ignored the MSNBC spam assuming it was piggybacking on the CNN top ten junk from last week.
@james
Not sure when they started building them several hundred feet tall but the tower of the GreenPark turbine just up the M4 from this site is 85m tall and the blades are 33m long making it nearly 400 foot high.
Standard boxes
HP badged Brocade switches come in a box that is obviously intended for two of them. The original idea must have been that since they are normally installed as pairs then let's put two in one box. If you order two though they still come in two double-sized boxes.
@An[]onymous Volvo Driving Coward.
Try to learn to read; I said I will start to ignore bikes from now on due to your advice, not that I previously ignored them. You could try learning to spell pedestrian as well while you're about it.
@Anonymous Volvo driving Coward
Fair enough; If you think I'm a prat for giving more consideration to motorcyclists than cars I'll stop leaving a bigger gap if the vehicle in front is a bike, I won't move over so they can filter past in traffic and I won't give any more of a sideways gap in between them and me as I overtake them in a high wind than I do far a car. (sorry to the rest of you bikers, you've just lost a friend).
Daylight running lights on cars...
...will severely reduce the safety that is currently gained by motorcyclists riding with their lights on during the day. At the moment I give extra concern to a headlight coming towards me in daylight because it is probably a bike with little protection to the rider, if it's probably just another Volvo I'll learn to ignore it after a while. It's almost as dangerous to others as driving with foglights on in the rain.
depolymerisation
At least PCBs don't smell as bad as turkey guts.
LTO4 encryption
How does the encryption add-on work when encryption is already built into HP LTO4 drives, do they disable it and then enable it again?
SmartStart
SmartStart for EVA can setup the hosts but it's quite limited since it only supports 4 PCI-e HBAs, servers with older HBAs have to be added manually through CommandView.
PSU redundancy modes
They set the Dell to redundant PSU but the HP to redundant AC in the test. That's cheating since AC redundancy requires 3 spares on standby but PSU redundancy only needs 1 spare powered up and the other two turned off, at least for the c7000 when it's fully populated.
