I brought a 8120 for myself in May, (only because i have a work 's 8100 and a car kit for it, and didn't want to buy a cradle for my personal phone and swap it about) I rang Orange two days after getting the phone about Blackberry maps, to be told they couldn't help me, as they "don't support 3rd Party apps, call Blackberry direct to find out why it won't install"

I gave up trying to get an answer form both so downloaded a free version of amAze which is not as good as Google Maps for detail but does allow Navigation so can listen to the directions as i'm driving. Shame pesky work won't allow the 8100 to connect to GPS devices else i'd use Blackberry Maps.

So a big Boo and Hiss to Orange for being Orange, i'll migrate to a new network at the earliest shame i didn't realise i was being shafted by Orange till after the 14 day cooling off period

erm methinks you have been sniffing the joss sticks a bit to much my friend. Having spent some time in the industrial areas of China I have seen a remarkable lack of slave,prisoner and child labor working in the Warehouses and factories, or even as part of the vast numbers of manual labourers building roads offices hotels and houses.

However the greedy native companies would risk using slave,prisoner and child labor. Also the vast gap between the have and the have not's does mean you do get sickly looking children virtualy clinging to you begging for money which is a tad annoying as you basicly have to beat them off you and i do mean beat them!! not particualry pleasent thing to do. Give them RMB and they will follow you begging for more with thier buddies i learnt that one the hard way!!

why companies such as websense are not punting home versions to a higher level i do not know. or are they? but i am not seeing them due to not being in the right demographic?

many a drunk chat amongst fellow childless IT people has helped design a home to guide in the lunishment of children. how many of us had had our hi-fi's and or TV's taken away as punishment when we were kids? (Apart from ye oldies who remember rationining, or the first wave of Punk) now it would be less back breaking just to remove a fuse to the bedroom, and only issue laptop at homework time and just before school.

We reckon, Home network with AD and a special punshment group set up with restrictive access levels basicly you can have access to Office and Adobe Photoshop, employ websense with same type of group i.e you only get education websites, have the wall sockets in thier room on a different ring to the other wall sockets on same floor, and remove fuse.

I would like to see the flood area should some nutter decides to test how much explosive it would take to rupture the tunnel, a couple of meters of hyper re-inforced concrete and what a mile of bedrock, plus seadbed????

judging by your post, you would be a pain to work for, if you would see somebody effort at going the extra mile to get stuff done as being bad workoad management, then your a bit nucked up!! in some org's hitting deadlines can be hard and require heroics in managing what is after all a giant herd of cats, when it comes to ensuring everybody is free to have conf calls, face to face meetings supply information, esp if they are not in your team and thier priorities are different and most inportantly they do not answer to you, or your mgmnt structure.

Esclations can SOMETIMES be more of hassel than helpful

sometimes you have crises which can not be left alone at 17:30 to be picked up at 09:00 the next day, Sometimes said crises impact on what your curently working on, now yes you can say ok fair enough i'll pick that up another day, it does really depend on your work state of mind, you may decide it is easy and have less impact on future work to JFDI there and then at 18:45

I would also say to you it's not always about workload management but expectation management,

and i would hate to break it to you buddy my boss loves me and respects for the extra effort i put in, which has resulted in lot's of time off in lieu, even a paid holiday in miami as long as i aranged a meeting, a nice big fat payrise. and lot's of playful slaps on the wrist for working to play catch up after having had loads of addtional work dumped on me, by said boss. It's swings and roundabouts buddy.

Sometimes when you are busy, spending 5 minutes distractiing yourself helps re-focus your attention, like when i go for a ciggie, or make a cup of coffee or jump on to el reg to read a news piece or two and make a long ramberling comment such as this.

I am struggling to work out how it should be pronouced, forigen lang is not my strong point (as english isn't at times) I can ask for most items in french, and ask directions to the beach, night club, the train station, and helpful things like " I live in a House" "i do not understand, can you speak english?" i.e basic 13 year old french!! Take VOIP and some UK telco's asking Nokia to remove the VOIP feature from the Handsets. Why? well obviously protect profits, damnit at the expense of allowing me to have full freedom.

French Telcom, have broadband and Mobile infrastucture, why can't I ditch BT as a landline take up good ole FT and have one Number which i can either use at home as a land line or when out of the house it switches to the Mob(il)e network, would save me some pennies i'm sure, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO how would BT and FT survive without the addtional charges.

To a degree I agree about Street maps being a bit fancy and pointless, however there has been the odd occasion when doing a routefinder say with multimap and then double checking with a normal map, I've been sent to the wrong area only by a few streets, having a street view would have given me a chance to verify that indeed I am being directed to the right place, this has happened to me twice in 3 years and caused me to be late even when I've double checked the address and postcode.

I take issue with people saying speed camara's are dangerous because it encourages people to stare at the speedo, and not the road, whilst this is true in most cases, it shouldn't be an excuse, with or without a camara you should be able to feel your speed with only having to glance down every now and again to make corrections of about +/- 5mph, if you stick to the limits.

I prefer the SPEC camara's that measure the average distance as most numb nuts don't heavy break they just crawl through on average at 10mph below the limit, this is only a minor iritation if on a single carridgeway, I am seriously considering a PA system for the car, so i can tell the pratt infront that the speed limit is 40 not 30, and other useful pieces of information, like turn your bloody rear fogs off, i'm not flashing you for a laugh your blinding me!!

The police should sit by the fixed camaras and pull anybody who breaks sharply before a camara for dangerous driving, i'm not talking about soft breaking to scrub off 5-10mph 10ft before the camara, i'm talking about those who break so hard that they grind thier front bumber 10ft down the road scrubing 40 mph, for christ sakes these camaras are pretty much all now in floresent colours, with signs 1km in each direction advising of the possibility of a camara, if you can't see it, you are a danger to us all.

The saftey team, sneaky bar-stewards, but i know thier out there somewhere, and touch wood i've spotted them well in advance that i have yet to be caught, Speed all you like just make sure your watching the whole road and mirrors whilst doing it.

Camaras are not dangerous it is unobservent drivers that are the danger.

The sole reason I am with Virgin is because i'm to far from an exchange to get anything higher 1 mb service. Now I face the potential of being capped, I would be happier if they invested in thier cable infrastucture so they could do away with the capping then go into adsl, but then i'm a selfish bugger

In some respects thankfuly the ban remains in place, as a frequent traverler it's is a joy to not be contactable for 2-12 hours also it is a joy not to hear somebody elses one way converstation, but on the flip side I will still have to wade through a mountain of Texts and VM and when checked in at the Hotel, emails but i guess it is a small price to pay for some P&Q, as much as I would like to be able to work on the go I can't have my cake and eat it. so i choose have the cake and eat it at the Hotel!!
