Please explain this statement? If you lose routing or SAN then you lose everything! with individual PC's you only lose individual base units. VDI is an area that particularly interests me at the moment, as we're a fast growing company and its looks appealing route for easy management! I'm not massively familiar with the systems, but this statements smells.
Really!
I think your reporter needs a reality check.
Media in every country pushes its "national message" (aka propoganda), but your reporter is also very naive if it thinks Chinese people are not aware. My brother lives in China and I'm also a frequent visitor, so can say from broad experience they have access to far more than you give them credit for.
Yes certain things are censored, but that can be said about any country. How much has been censored in the UK? And usually its the most ridiculous of stories.. At least the chinese are consistant!
Where is the PalmOS version ...
But switched to the SG2 when it hit the streets... I think Apple are missing the point here, people like the bigger screens. Moving to a 4" screen is still playing catch up, if it had a 4.2 or 4.5, I'd probably have moved back..
I guess Apple are now Evolutionary, rather than Revolutionary..
.. The engine needs more va va z00m!
In recent years I've Focus ST, Megane RS and a couple of others, all of which cost me a few pennies over £20k each fully spec'd up, all of them would leave this car standing.
I love the looks of it, but when you hit this price range, its under the bonnet that counts. For this kind of money and to compete, they more powerful engines. If this came with something like the VW 2.0 170BHP TDI engine, I've be heading to forecourt rather than writing this.
Apparently the 2012 version has a flux capacitor!
... sh*t!
What level is this block operating on, is it DNS based or IP?
True - You can't beat these boxes for value...
Personally I wanted something with a bit more umph though, so I built a custom box, with 4 Bay NAS case, i3 cpu, 8Gb RAM, 4x1.5TB HDD's in RAID 5.. cost just over £300 and I'm running Windows 7 with VMWare Workstation (Could not use ESX as it would not work with the onboard RAID controller).
Google Apps.. everyones a winner!
Slapped one in my work-issue laptop... runs like a dream :)
This has been a problem for several years.
I've been given quite a few opportunities to relocate to the Shanghai area, the issue is they don't offer the remunerations expected by western workers. You never know, this may go the way of the oil industry, where they offer low to mid 6-figure salaries and bonuses to bring in foreign talent. If that happens, I'll be upping sticks :)
I created a Gluster Cluster last year, mirrored across 2 VM's to give high availability NFS - It "works", but its dog slow and memory usage after several days goes through the roof.
I've tried an IBM alternative (Used on a ScaleComputing storage cluster) and its natively quick, support NFS, CIFS etc.. if Redhat want to match this, then they have a lot of work to do! Unfortunately the IBM offering was just to expensive.
Action Replay... FREEZE! .. MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU
I watch a couple of the videos, but found them be to much like marketing dribble and pushing products rather than offering thoughtful training!
Its truely a breakthrough technology, which will teleport domain registration to the next level!
.. Its called "Auto re-new"
isn't that the problem in the first place!! Ba Doom tsssch
Website will only accept US numbers.. If your getting free international publicity, you really should ensure your sign up process is sufficient!
Our servers are due for refresh, so I'm evaluating moving our web servers to a cloud provider - but I've done substantial research on costs, the results showed its only marginally cheaper to relocate our existing systems.
If we kept our Colo and purchased new servers, the cost would be about 5-10% (payment spread across 3 years) more expensive, but it would give 2-3x the capacity of what we currently have..
So in the short term its cheaper to move to a cloud, but we're currently experiencing exponential growth, so the medium term it could work out much more expensive. Then the high profile outages of EC2 and Azure, highlights the support issues and lack of accountability.. I suspect this is a major concern for all IT Managers. After all, we're fundamentally reliquishing control, there is little we can do when outages occur, but we're still ultimate responsible for keeping things running..
.. Or do you prefer Crusading Quack?
The only sickness here is your lack comprehension that people have the right to disagree.
Fact is few people will disagree that the climate is changing, but environmentalists have cried wolf for decades, they've spent billion upon billions on trying to prove their theories.. yet they've still not delivered ANY kind of proof!
If they destroy the pre-owned games market, there will a MASSIVE increase in "chipped" consoles (or the "720" equivalent of!) to circumvent copy protection.
And yes, you'll see me at the head of the queue..
I demand you get this genius to write more articles, this was very informative..
Another person blind to the fact that 90% of SME's don't have suitable internet connections to achieve this, even when they do, bandwidth costs would consume all savings..
.. but Woz is a Legend, I would love to meet him, dam shame he lives 10k miles away!
Don't know why your shocked... its typically the American way, pack 'em in and pack 'em high...
He's going to spend 10 years with his new room mate, Bubba... who will INSIST he picks up the soap!
Your way off!
A deal would not be offered unless there was substantial evidence to back-up the charges. So her testimony was icing on the cake!
Hu hu huh huh ... come to beavis!!
Its a survey for IT Professionals, aka people who understand the purpose of Cloud (cough cough Virtualisation!) and its applications...
Now go back to World of Warcraft!
I'm a click and shoot type of guy, but the clarity of some of these shots is pretty f*cking awesome. You've convinced me to give it a try. I just wish it had a super zoom on it, if it came with a 12x-16x Optical, I'd be heading to the shop NOW!
lol ... I ready this as skanky, so you get my vote :D
I bet he includes the different Ubuntu flavors in that, where Redhat will only count RHEL.. in order to make that fair, this should also include the CentOS figures, but I suspect this would
My local 3 stores have some rather tasty customer service ;) and if that weren't enough, the hottest girl was telling me how she upset she was after pre-ordered Mass Effect 3 last July... hot and into ME3.. I'm in LOVE!
As you insist!
With a 17" screen and ridiculous high costs, these should come with a minimum 1080p screen... If not even larger. Lets face it, development of laptop screens has stagnated in recent years..If these are the "next generation" then they should have screen to match.
Now all they need is for it to give "touch" feedback... then we can have real 3D BOOBIES!!!
Anybody interested in buying my Tab 10.1? I've now found my replacement :D
They're awesome drives.. brought mine just before the floods for about £80, the same drive now costs about £150... ludicrous.
But your talking crap!
It only took a few politicians to propose and push SOPA, but NEARLY every american Internet company (with the exception of a few.. GoDaddy to name 1) and anybody with any mediocre knowledge of the Internet opposed this very vocally. Net (no pun intended!) result was the bill was dropped. That my friend is democracy, and its the only reason the Internet is so "liberal" and your able to post rubbish like this..
Are you suggesting people should not have a right to discuss ideas that you don't approve of? or propose radical alternatives? No matter how stupid or crazy an idea, people still have the right to suggest and discuss it...
At some point a "golden egg" idea will come out that benefits everybody.. such as "I've got this crazy idea, lets build a global network..", other times ideas will just be useless or detrimental, but still they should be looked at given any due merit!
M$ and Apple are just bitter...
beside, I think Apple views is purely on the basis they fear a bitch slapping from the Chocolate Factory, so they're looking to cut off the hand that will deliver it..
I know its probably an unfair view, but they've been bullying HTC, Sumsung etc.. so it'll serve Apple right when that slap finally lands :)
Device compatibility and driver availability is poor at best... so Apple, please do tighten the screws furthers on an already miserable market :)
Ding dong, the bells are crashing.. nope, thats MacOS sounding its death bells (oh I dream of the day!)
For somebody working in Manufacturing in China, this is actually a decent wage. My brother moved to China to teach English about 4 years ago, and teaching is one of the better and respected paid profession, but he only earns about 700-800RMB a month this includes a "premium" as he is a westerner - Chinese teachers actual earn less.
Simple fact is, you can't set their pay by western standard, if you did, iPads et al would cost £2000, it also needs to be factored in that living out the is several magnitudes cheaper.
Its a bitch when your own tactics are employed against you..
Now all I want to see is Proview taken over by Samsung, I will then piss myself with laughter for several days (while I'm lucid and not inebriated).
How can they justify that cost for so little storage?? Admittedly I'm no storage expert, but surely there's a decimal missing off that?
Mass Effect 3, its the end of an era, and I doubt it will disappoint :)
Now since I've read your article, how about splitting the kick back with us???
I've used many "Top" DNS services in my time, and I can tell you now they all have pro's and con's.. but fact is if you've configured DNS correctly with multiple servers, you should NEVER have any of these problems..
We run several websites that use PPC advertising such as Adwords etc, where clicks can cost from £1 to £50, so even a single DNS failure for us can be expensive. So we use Multicast DNS providers, used to be with UltraDNS, but couple of years ago shifted to the Dyn.com Dynect service... yes they charge a fortune, but its a great service.
Agreed.
Definitely conflict of interest here, with the likes of Rupert Murdoch backing SOPA because of his interest in Fox.. Fox New simply becomes a propoganda tool.
You hit the nail on the head.
The film industry in using a piece meal approach, they'll release the old "tat" to Netflix and Lovefilm, but the rest of the content they hoard in an effort to squeeze more profit from it. Its doomed to failure, the music industry learnt this, they had to be dragged kicking and screaming by the likes of iTunes (et al) into the 21st century.
It boils down to this - We have a culture of consume on-demand, with products available through multiple suppliers, the net result should be increased competition and decreased prices, this is the ethos of capitalism. Consumers now live by this, so they're looking for the content they want, at a time dictated by them and at a reasonable cost.
Where the film and tv industry fail to deliver this, then consumers will find these other supplier (even if its not legitimate). The big players in the industry will lose distribution control, the spoils will go to those that embrace it... e.g. the iTunes and Spotifies of the Movies and TV world.
