"There is also a risk that some of the big players will simply shift their operations out of the UK altogether and run them entirely from a "tax friendly" location."
That old chestnut...
It's basically not true. If Starbucks leave the country, are people going to suddenly stop buying coffee? Nope - the gap in the market will be filled by somebody else. And they'll probably pay their taxes...
At that age they pretty much want anything they see...
Mine wants a Wii and a Nintendo DS and a Xbox and a phone and a chemistry set and a dog and a lizard and a TV and a Keyboard and a guitar and keyboards and a....
All paid for by somebody else of course.

Unfortunately, this doesn't account for the oodles of software purchased by the various departments without IT's involvement who then have to try & make work with what they have.
(And this isn't just an NHS issue - had exactly the same problem in the private sector...
"The fact that some accepted a termination of employment with a months pay as severance is probably better than they would have been offered say 2 years ago"
I may have misunderstood something, but I thought the protest was because the Management reneged on the severance pay after workers had resigned...
"Also so much for freedom of choice for the American people. So much for the "Land of the Free", because they are proving once again its a lie. Being told what choices you are allowed to make isn't freedom, because your master has already chosen what they don't want you to do."
As Bill Hicks said: " You are free to do what we tell you... Go back to bed America..."
