Re: Get it right!

My grandmother used to send us food packages of mealie puddings from Tayport when I was a lad.

Served on their own, just a bit of butter to add to the overall unhealthiness.

Mmm.

Dammit, now I'm peckish as well.

20 years for a pair of sneakers?

I think I'll just keep going to the shops.

2nd try...

Well, there is a firmware upgrade which, when applied , calls itself the same version as the one it replaced. However, it does seem to be somewhat more stable (i.e. it doesn't reset itself to factory default settings every 40 minutes) and seems to have been ok for a week.

Still looking at it out of the corner of my eye, though.

Oh dear.

As a Gigabit switch, it works fine.

As for anything else, oh dearie me it's crap. Network would randomly vanish, its DNS seemed to query upstream by post.

Slight untruth from DRM maker

"This data and information does not affect your computer system in any way" should read

"Unless you use certain types of software we think are suspicious, in which case the program you've just shelled out 40 quid for will not run, unless you remove all traces it from your PC, or your DVD drive is a common one, but not supported by us, in which case we'lll ask you to delve in to the registry and device manager to fiddle about with your system, in which case we may, if we feel like it, let you run the program you bought.

We realise that you could download a cracked version that doesn't require all this arsing about in far less time, but that doesn't match our business model of treating the customer as scum."

The cars will be clean, it's one of those foam washes during the day.

Wondered why I see so many of the buggers - I stay 500m from that garage.

CE Box

Like Steven, I got the box with the codes months ago.

@Kane

I'm sure you'd be happy to fund another wodge of cash for my (Government) employers connection to the 'net.

While misuse of facilties is a management issue, it's far easier to just limit access to innapropriate sites and save it ever having to be one.

We block most types of sites, all incoming attachments of any sort, all social networking sites, webmail sites and streaming media. Based on the growth patterns before we stuck the filtering software in, that's saved us (or, you, the taxpayer), a substantial sum of money in bandwidth costs and mail server hardware, as well as removing employee unproductivity opportunities. (Probably, the webcam rollout program isn't finished yet :-))

If that's wrong, well, I don't wanna be right...

@home.

Upgraded to version 2 firmware this morning, took 15 minutes, now my iPhone buzzes every couple of minutes as mail hits my Exchange account.

Take /that/, Blackberry users :-)

Edinburgh

I've seen the car by my house, at work whilst exiled for a ciggie and this morning after dropping off the kids.

I wonder if I'll be in all three scenes?

@Chad

Just because you've got root access to an iPhone on a network doesn't mean you've got root access to the network.

Got to love status reports

Especially ones with "I would like to provide an update on where we stand following yesterday's explosion ..."

The joys of outsourcing

No doubt whoever runs the HMRC system charges £5k for a custom SQL query that any decent PFY could do in 20 minutes, given sufficient liquid incentivisation...

A hacker did it and ran away

Yeah, right.

They're probably the same hackers that raid our cupboards for chocolate when there's no-one there bar my son.
