Hmm. i remember playing a 'puter game called "America's Army", developed for the, er, "US Army". Now I'm confused who exactly the game portrayed, and who commissioned it.

Perhaps the USA should clarify the situation by pulling a Hitler and annexing all of their continental neighbours. Then they could call themselves something simpler.

8Mhz for a listener?

Blimey. That must be some awesome super high-fidelity, surround sound baby listener. 4kHz of spectrum ought to be enough to convey a voice channel, although I must admit I've never tried to hear what a screaming baby sounds like on a communications channel. Lets say 50kHz for good measure, including guard bands. 8MHz could carry a video channel, in fact probably 2, just about. There's either some very badly designed baby listeners or some confused reporting here.

They even throttle access to their own mirrors

I'm trying to download a Ubuntu 8.04 disk image so I can install it as a favour to my housemate, who's promised to fix someones broken XP machine. Virgin are kindly rate-limiting me at the moment, so I thought I'd be clever and download the image from their Ubuntu mirror. It wasn't so clever though, as the download rate still sucked.

I found myself wondering if they throttle access to their own mirrors too, so I phoned up tech support (who conveniently enough are cheaper to abuse now) to check: firstly that I was being throttled, and secondly, that they are retarded enough to throttle access to their own mirrors. Tech supported pleaded guilty to both charges. I requested a MAC code for the 2nd time in two months (this time I'll use it) and was put on hold for 2 minutes before being told that they were now closed.

Gits. UKFSN here I come.

I thought 'we' typically referred to intellectual property, not industrial property in this context. Is this just bad translation, or is this just another case of individual's rights being usurped by big business.
