Nice to hear the Wives and Girlfriends are involved. In fact is nice to see that Web denizens have wives and girlfriends.

In Typing merely by thinking - plugless brainjack kit invented

As a sufferer from RSI, who makes a living typing, this is good news. I often worry what will happen if I can no longer type.

In Peppa Pig told to belt up
It is totally inappropriate to complain to the BBC about Peppa Pig, as she airs on Channel 4 (do you guys not watch kids TV?)
The one time have been tempted to complain to the BBC was about an episode of Bob the Builder in which sound travels faster than light (although there are clear health and safety and competitive tendering issues in Bobsville as well).

In MyConservatives website collapses at launch

A fair criticism of this UK government, and their civil service, is that they are utterly incapable of organising and running any IT system.
A good selling point for a political party hoping for election would be that they can do this new-fangled computer stuff.
On this evidence, the Tory party can't. Which is pretty much what we all expected.
Problem is, neither can any other party. (Good thing in the case of the BNP. Can you imagine it? "That Mr Griffin may have be a right-wing racist thug, but at least he made the websites work on time!")
We need MPs and civil servants who can speak C# and Java, not Greek and Latin.
(Sits back and waits for the replies that say "No!!!!!! SMALLTALK / PYTHON / COBAL etc)...

In Facebook kills 'Kill Obama' poll

Q: "Why is it, whenever someone wants a Republican viewpoint, they call on the extremist wing of the Republicans, people like Rush Limburg?"
A: I believe by "someone" you mean the Broadcast Media. Their interest is getting larger audiences, usually to sell more advertising (in the case to the BBC to justify its licence fee). Extremists (of any political hue) make better telly then reasonable human beings. This attracts more viewers, particularly of the gullible variety the advertises really want.
The public gets what the public wants.
Next time you see an objectionable jerk on telly, make a note of the channel and time. Write to all the advertisers in the following spot and tell them that you had been considering buying their product, but the interview on Channel X at time Y has made you associate it with Arse-hole Z and therefore you are going to buy from their mortal enemy.
Worth a try.
Sorry, I seemed to strayed from the point. It's YouTwitFace. It's for jerks to mouth off on (that's what I use it for). Still, can't hurt if the feds make it plain to these jerks that anything with your name, your picture and a list of your friends isn't exactly anonymous.
It is the people who voted "yes" that they are going after I assume?

In Armless getaway driver leads police a merry dance

And we can save a whole load of money by doing away with all these "courts" & "judges" & "juries" & "evidence" & "sentencing guidelines".
Why waste all that time looking at the facts of the case and the defendants, and worrying about what course of action has the highest chance of stopping this individual repeating his crimes?
No, lets just sentence people based on Ash's reading of an article on the Reg about a report in the Mail and Telegraph.
We might save enough money to pay for all those new prisons we're going to need.

In Naked iPod touch dangles its FM radio
My wife wanted an iPod, till I pointed out they don't do FM (unlike my old Zen). In the end I got her a Sony Walkman (after reading lots of reviews, mostly on ElReg (thank you)). She's very happy with it.
Apples stuff is cute, but if it doesn't have the features I want, I ain't buying.

In People just not that into Blu-ray
Got a new laptop recently with a Blu-Ray (sic) player and HDMI, so we bought a disc to try it out on our HD telly. To me, the results are better than DVD, but then I spent nine years making TV broadcast equipment, so I know what to look for. However, if the film is sufficiently interesting you forget to look at the image quality. If the film isn't sufficiently interesting, I'll turn off the telly and do something more interesting instead.
So, not worth the cost margin over DVD, unless image quality is prime concern.

In Info chief slaps Met on CCTV in pubs

If you photograph everyone coming into a pub then, sooner or later, you are going to photograph a policeman. It's illegal to photograph policeman, in case terrorists learn what Policemen look like. Looks like we are going to have to ban Policemen from any area where there is CCTV, in case they are photographed.

In Beatles to bless Rock Band
"how appealing will the Beatles catalogue be"?
We've played a variety of music to our kids, and I have tried to avoid colouring their judgement. Our 6-year old Son has decided that The Beatles are his favourite band, and always goes for them when asked to choose some music. (Our 3-year old Daughter seems to prefer Tangerine Dream for some reason). The Beatles will stand on their own merit I think.
