Migrate before ...

When is the last time someone did something before it's too late ???

There is no point in migrating something that runs fine to Win 7, the difficulty and costs will be the same migrating it to Win 9 or X.

If you add energy matters ... an XP PC will run on 85 W a Win 7 probably needs 120 Watts ... when a Celeron 700 MHz Win 98 25 Watts ... and frankly the less crap users can run on their PC the better.

WTF?

A patent for a set of rules ...

"So now kids don't talk to strangers" TM

New patent from TFL OysterCard Rules : Swear while you swipe. Anytime you swear whilst swiping Boris gets a penny.

WinHatter

Bahh ...

to maximize the ROI Studio Engine can always open a subsidiary : Steak Studio.

A freshy for me mate.

WinHatter
WTF?

even your DNA ...

to protect my data ... well DNA tends to be leaked (pun intended).

WinHatter
FAIL

TV becomes just another smart device

for dumber contents.

WinHatter
WTF?

Spend 1000's to save 100's

sure time is money, but implementing such a tiering may be time consuming and the horsepower and brains to do that costs money as well. Plus your DB may be locked because some old fart is updating their eerily old data on a very slow cassette tape.

Add that moving data back and forth may well end in losing it to a "I did not consider that potential failure" ...

I'm sure adding a faster disk array to an existing storage pool when filled up is more efficient ... so just dimension your storage for a 6 month period so you can enjoy the benefits of newer and faster tech for your newer data ...

Java ...

1.3 1.4 2 4 5 6 what a turd ... after almost 20 years they finally introduced EJB 3.0 where you don't need to do all the tedious work to get a distributed object ... hardly !!!

Whoaw what an achievement, Forté Inc. had that in 1990, Forté was acquired by Sun ... and all those tossers could not even make a proper Java middleware out of the superb product that was Forté 4GL. Thinking that those Java turkeys are now an "industry" standard makes me sick.

The tablet effect is quite real

A tablet is the ultimate gizmo in the bludger's attire, right ahead of smartphone, people will always brag about the amount of (pretend) work they can now achieve on their tablet. Truth to be told most of computer users achieve sod all.

Apple just "happens" to have some classy visual designs and a very carefully designed pricing policy that makes their products a wee bit expensive but within reach of your already maxed out credit card ... which makes them even more desirable.

Groundbreaking

1 trillion years rather than 5 to break the key ... I'm worried sick.

WinHatter
WTF?

Plumbers not Coders

Govt should be investing in training plumbers not IT, it costs more to get a plumber than to get a code pisser.

But I need a shower unit more than I need a NHS IT system coz my GP does not need one to diagnose me.

-- The quality of IT candidates in the UK is extremely high and often underestimated --

And that is why we have some of the most brilliant and costliest world class failures.

The Java Paradigm knock off

Corollary-1

Ama-zone cloud : designed once fails everywhere.

I know bugger all about their design but I'd assume, to cut costs, they copied-pasted their zones (infrastructure, hardware, hypervisors, OS & software). Ooooh shit-ngle point of failure.

Corollary-2

Hacked once hacked everywhere.

May be some are happy to (help) see them fail. Ooooh Pooh again.

WinHatter

you don't need to hear a fart to

know it stinks.

Crankshaft was inspired by Sun's Java HotSpot performance engine. Here is your hotspot fart.

WinHatter

Hope they'll choke

to death on the patent bulimia.

From progressive they all turn conservative, the only thing they are afraid of it someone else making monies out of one of patented snippets.

That demonstrates only one thing : innovation is not the aim (money is).

WinHatter
Coat

Don't take that as a hobble

take it as an opportunity to do something useful ...

/mine's the one with the locked out TheVulture account.

WinHatter

Eskellent

I was wondering how long it would take before Oracle gets shitty about Java crap.

WinHatter
Flame

Already there

I get it now ... it's pronounced eyePhone.

I bet the kill switch is already there, just waiting for a patent to give them "legal" grounds to use it.

Steve Jobs middle name is Hand.

WinHatter

No 80/139/445 port

Total isolation is good too. And leaving the PC switched off is even better.

Why not suing the car's manufacturer

Apple's website saturated.

probably just a fad. An iPod for people with deep pockets ... literally.

WinHatter
WTF?

SP1 will land in Q4 2010

or is it "SP1 will crash land in Q4 2010" ?

I don't deny or confirm W7 is working great, as I'm not using it, but will it take that long (Q4) before W7 emits some creaks at the seams???

WinHatter

I wouldnt want to be

the executioner.

Stoning to death an Orca type may kill you first.

Mine's got pebbles.

WinHatter

Rubbish

phone for rubbish organisation I don't see any incompatibilities.

WinHatter

Legitosectomy

Why am I under the impression that some will end up locked out their legit copy?

What can possibly go wrong. Security by patch & update always a nice thing ... ask Apple.

WinHatter

Greasy sausages on me screen.

I hate that.

Bloody hate it.

Don't tooch me screen or I kill ya.

WinHatter

Giv' it back

Monty can you kindly propose $1 bn to Oracle so you can get your stuff back ... or kindly shut up.

WinHatter

Easy to say sorry ...

when you don't really mean it.

WinHatter
Pint

Sorry ...

... I haven't been paying attention to MS orientations lately. In the world I belong to, MS is just a way to run legacy applications, and it is rather bad : XP/2003Server.

But, if MS is pissing off people that can't be a bad thing.

WinHatter
Pint

The only thing left ...

now is to remove the offending MS Office from the Earth.

WinHatter
Flame

Most importantly

forgot to put in the infra ultra dark red Sun/Java for wasting so many CPU cycles.

James Gosling the young goose that got turkeys buying into Java should be fined $4 bn in carbon tax.

WinHatter
WTF?

ARFFF

Multi-core support ... because some IT directors think they can run their Enterprise Class Application in a browser.

That is the kind of stupidity that never ceases to amaze me. They fail to realize the Classy application will run in the same "context" as JS-pr0n ... that should worry them.

WinHatter
WTF?

Stuck in time.

Well I'm still with MSVC++ 6 & .NET 2005 (well 2003 SP1) and that is the last one I'll ever use ... so M$ can issue any kind of sluggish MSVC++ they want ... the plank's been walked for us.

WinHatter
Pint

M$ workaround

Interdependencies not well understood.

Well let's have all of it in 1 single big fat DLL ... problemo solved.

WinHatter
Pint

bitter init??

M$ is having a taste of their own medicine ... hope they get sued and publicly spanked for some other "mistakes" that haven't caught the public attention.

But will Win 7 matter enough to attract law suits ???

WinHatter
IT Angle

Massively huge box

joke most probably but still,

Sarko needs one tiny box for his body & soul and a massive one adjacent to it for his massively over inflated ego.

WinHatter

Two Trojans down.

"Two Trojans - a variant of Bredo and a banking trojan - failed to work on Win 7 machines."

Woawww

Meaning APIs have changed and that many other things will turn out to be broken. Probably the Trojan's code is fixed already/

WinHatter

"Human head" shaped headrests

What a strange idea.

There is noway the heads at the back are attached to a human body.

WinHatter

Jobs can't fly

a Mustang P55 ... but I'd love to fly one of the P51 around Balmer's house.

WinHatter
Pint

And I once promised

to never get wasted again ... well that went well ... for a couple of weeks.

If GlassFish is the fittest, that may turn to be a true promise, otherwise that is just not to scare the sheep away.

WinHatter
Pint

Poor M$ buggers

why bother, Apple with Mac OS X does not give a flying crapware so why should M$. Even if M$ were to set the retail tag price to $29 for Win 7 I would not buy it. XP is good enough for the 3 tiny apps I need to M$ run.

WinHatter
Pint

stopped reading after

... before you buy.

I'll sure wait to have my hands on a pirated copy, before I buy.

WinHatter

Rimmer ...

Reminds me of a RedDwarf episode:

If the job is worth doing it, do it properly, if it isn't give it to EDS.

WinHatter

To the VistaMobile.

Oh snap, take that Ballmer, Jobs is stepping on your bedding plants.

After such a cockup Macs should sell like mad.
