If car manufacturers where capable of producing a decent system it would have already been done. They just produce half backed attempts and support nothing. The never get updated, they never really work with your phone that will.

Wasn't there a very high return on Linux boxes when they started selling them on the highstreet?

People don't like change and moving from Windows to Linux is a kick in the nuts. Its horrible to get used to. You also have to learn all new programs as most wont run on Linux. For a small fee the user can stick with windows and be happy. That is why Linux doesn't sell.

You also have to:

retrain Staff to use the OS

Retrain staff to use the Open office or some half baked option

Retrain other companies when office wont open the files that came from that software, or they look like crap.

Hire more expensive staff to maintain it.

Custom build all of your software because no one supports it on the desktop.

It goes on and on. No one produces software for it, no knows how to use it, no one wants the hassle of learning how to use it to save a tiny cost in the grand scale of things.

22% in a year isnt bad for a free OS. Linux is 20 years old and still has almost no interest for people as an everyday driver. Im not sure "Its so secure if you know what your doing" and "All windows users are retards" is working as a sales pitch.

I dont think most people really care that Microsoft take usage statistics because we give worse away to tescos and google. But we do get better services because of this.

Good time to nationalise the network in the UK to one giant shared beast with 100% coverage. Screw the mobile operators and their lazy approach they already screw their customers on Data costs

by old you mean EXTREMELY old 64bit chips have been more or less standard for a decade. I would be hard pressed to find a CPU that wasnt 64bit compatible. Christ you could pick a 64bit pos laptop up for peanuts!

Windows 7 is a dog but i hate Windows 8. I quite enjoy Windows 10 after its short learning curve. They only thing that bothers me is that im not sure how to role it out in business when it might completely change next week.

We will probably end up back in Europe with a "Trade Deal" lots of restrictions and no power to tell them to bugger off. If we had waited a couple of years we would have probably ended up with the same result except we would have been up front rather than in the boot.

I'm sure they were saying there is very little in it between enterprise and consumer reliability. SSDs are alot better than they used to be and i cant stand a using a computer without one. If you buy a computer nowadays without one you should be shot.

wtf is a kilometre everything is in miles in the UK. We drive on the other side of the road so we can stab you in the face with a sword with our best arm! And the reason we have roundabouts and traffic lights is we are too rude and inconsiderate to wait for someone else turn! However unlike Americans when we see someone in need we do help. We dont just shoot them, hit them with the bible or throw them in a volcano if your tom cruise :P

Ad blockers are no better than piracy for free websites!! You either pay for it or you get adverts. Having said that maybe anti virus solutions should start blocking ad networks that are either intrusive, carry malware or are facebook. There should be something more central to kill off bad add networks or force them to reform.

If someone stole you phone they would probably just wipe it and the encrypted data. Encryption gives most people little or no useful protection in this case. However it does benefit criminals. Apple are just protecting their marketing not their customers.

Targeted adds arnt really that bad are they? Apples news, music, assistance and mapping all suck because they cant draw from this information. Its a small price to pay for much better service if you ask me as you cant get a personal service without it.

Unless your up to no good. In which case you should go with Apple.

Windows 10 is far from a great OS but its fine to use at the moment. Another year or so of updates and it should be one of the better OS MS have shat out. Either way its still better than Linux and OSX for most task. Especially if you game.

"What about Linux" - its free but nothing supports it not even its own community half the time. Its just abandon ware on a grand scale. Its great if you want to be messing around with the OS all the time, but id much rather be blowing stuff up on Just Cause 3.

What about Mac OSX - I'm sure fisher price do a cheaper product with more use.

Who would install XP willingly or under torture? There is no hardware worth running that would run better on XP.

10 is a very good OS so far. Not work ready quite yet but very close. Its an excellent home OS with a few settings tweaked and an SSD for good measure.

Half the time is abandoned by the manufacturer. I don't think anyone should buy a phone that isn't a Nexus variant if you want a good experience with android. Cyanogen and all that bollocks can sod off as well, half the time they seem like they are about to fragment. Its a die hard few, or people with abandoned phones that turn to it.
