Forced to view content (Adverts etc.)

I hate the 5 mins lost when you first insert a DVD/BD. I just want to put in a disk and watch a film as with an audio CD. I don't need to know there is a new film out next spring etc, because I still watch films more than once, by the second third time the 'new' release has already long gone.

I don't need to watch the anti piracy video etc.

"without the explicit consent"

"Nor is any of the data gathered allowed to be passed on to third parties without the explicit consent of the person involved."

I'm sure in the small print of the pages and pages of small print when you buy the car, you will have a tick box to give your consent.

At a change of ownership would any "explicit approval" be reset ?

Re: good riddance to an early 'hacking tool'?

I prefer Messenger as well.

Skype just winds me up.

I use it to chat to the good lady when I'm working away. It's simple and works most of the time. We have a fixed IP at home and I would love to find a alternative Video over IP system that connects directly without the need of a controlling server etc. If anyone can suggest one.

Re: Fidelity issues?

Don't forget to re-burn them after 5 years or you may start to loose them. I have a number of CDR's that started life silver in colour and are now gold or is that rusty ?

Some of these won't play any more so you have to keep transferring them :(

h 2

Re: Fidelity issues?

I would dispute this.

It is system dependant, if you are listening on a headphone or laptop speaker, then yes. But as soon as you crank it up on a reasonable hifi system, then anyone will notice.

Film/Music industries should now be making massive profits ?

On the BBC site it quotes "The creative industry argues that piracy costs £400m"

So now that the main file sharing sites have effectively closed for file sharers, their profits should now be up,

In the two months since Christmas they should have made an extra £66m , but something tells me they have not.
