Everyone is being far too clever. If you (sadly) check out the original film, you'll find that the airbourne sentrys actually run COBOL - probably one of the most underrated realtime development platforms of the last millenium :-)

Given the timescales on defence projects, I would stock up on valves and punch cards to welcome any overlords...
