It will be interesting keeping an eye on the website http://www.track-trump.com/ which will simply keep track of promises kept or broken in the first 100 days. I am certainly no fan of Donald Trump but there is no law against voting for an imbecile. Or against imbeciles voting, for that matter.
MS really are very, very silly sometimes. Windows 10 is probably not too awful an OS (I'm still on 7 as I have no need to upgrade just yet) but instead of letting customers upgrade IF and WHEN they want, they try to trick people into upgrading just so MS's numbers look good. Now I don't care what you say about the red X, it has always meant cancel ever since I have used a Windows OS so pretending otherwise is just pixie dust. Episodes like this show that MS really have very little respect for their customers (you know, the people who pay their salaries). Idjits.

Exactly. It never ceases to amaze me how companies profess to "value the customer", "focus on the basics", "empower", "stakeholders", <insert another business cliche here> and then just duck and weave, preferring to try and hide things under the carpet in the hope that the problem will go away. This is very, very poor service on the part of Microsoft and I hope the issue is reported far and wide and comes back to bite them on the bum.,
A while ago I thought that facebook was like so many other things that seem to come and go and imagined it would only be a matter of time before the novelty wore off and facebook would fade into obscurity. Once mums and dads started using facebook, I thought that the cool factor would have evaporated and that kids would move on to the next big thing. Nobody wants to be seen hanging out with parents and all that. Personally, I have a facebook account but only check it once or twice a year, mainly to thank people for wishing me happy birthday after they have been prompted by facebook.
Maybe I was completely wrong (I know advertising income does not equal user growth but advertisers will not throw money at a dwindling user base). It would be interesting to see just where the user growth is happening, because if it is increasing in places where people don't have much of a disposable income then such growth is not going to do much for advertisers.
Will the facebook novelty wear off? When?
I dumped Yahoo quite a while back (search for "Yahoo" and "XSS" to see how vulnerable your Yahoo account is). With the number of free alternatives, I really can't see why anyone would bother with Yahoo any longer. Yahoo has been slowly sliding down the slope of irrelevance for quite some time now.
I was getting heaps of these dodgy emails and while I didn't click on the link, I visited the website (top level, then second level) by entering the url manually. I just got curious is all, but it was definitely a momentary lapse of reason, as my yahoo address then sent out some of the same stuff. That will learn me for being cocky and thinking I was too clever to fall for this shi*t.
Anyway, I have since removed my Yahoo account and also deleted *anything* that required a Yahoo login (eg flickr, Yahoo Answers, etc). I should have done this ages ago, Yahoo is just problematic and not worth the aggravation.
I thought about going to Voda but after learning of all the performance and customer service problems, I think I had better stick with my current provider. Voda have some great deals, but what is the point of having a great deal on a phone when you can''t do the basics properly? The CEO says they have "turned the corner", but then he would say that, wouldn't he?

While the drop in 100 mbps user numbers might be "interesting", you cannot really use the drop to draw any conclusions as to why the numbers have dropped. There are probably various dynamics at play and we do not know the entire scenario.
The reason I stick with Firefox (Pale Moon actually) is that some of the add-ons are almost indispensable. It's just a matter of keeping them at a minimum and being prepared to accept a performance hit as a trade-off for the benefit provided by the particular add-on/s. No doubt some people will grizzle about their start up times even though they have a squillion add-ons installed.
