Re: There is an additionnal diplomatic issue...
Is this the French mini carrier you're talking about? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_aircraft_carrier_Charles_de_Gaulle_(R91)
She's 20 m shorter than your precious Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers, so that would make those mini+ or something.
If you have to lie to make your point, that means you're wrong.
Re: I'm confused...
Well, you would have been able to use it in Lybia.
Are you one of those people who are annoyed by the way the Syrian population is suffering under a brutal dictator? Do you want to do anything about it other than filing a protest the UN?
Where are you going to fly your planes from?
Phillip Hammond is a traitor and any UK citizen is allowed to shoot him in the face and claim self defence.
That won't stick and you will be probably be convicted. But the traitor will be dead. And his fellow traitors will be very nervous indeed.
What?
What? Money comes from customers?
Surely money is generated through procedures!
What?
What? Money comes from customers?
It could work you know...
If you find enough morons, and there's never a shortage, to invest in this, you could make a nice profit.
don't underestimate the lawyers
Don't underestimate the lawyers and their stupidity.
We have had a couple of criminals in Belgium, like Dutroux, where it would be obvious for everyone that they should never be allowed to return to society. Another example is Breivik.
However some lawyers are toying with the evil idea to do just that. They seem to find pleasure in twisting the law just to piss of the ordinary law abiding citizen.
A way to stop them is to kill their client.
If you know an alternative, please tell us.
Re: Burgers Are So Tasty
"Yeah, scrap your own industry, buy F18s and focus on Finance. It worked out well in Iceland and Ireland."
Yes, I'm sure if Iceland and Ireland had subsidised their military industrial complex, everything would be honky dory.
"Also, the youtube videos of Eurofighter aerobatics are truely impressive."
Good argument. Really. I like it.
As usual
As usual management f*cked up.
They thought they were smarter than everybody elsen that common sense and cause and effect didn't matter on their rosy planet.
Incompetence and arrogance often come together and they are a deadly combination.
Nokia = game over.
The sad thing is: there were people in the company that knew better.
But how do you call the lemming that warns for the cliff ahead?
A negative element in the group.
The problem is...
Management. They don't have a f*cking clue.
Piss poor management accounts for 90% of all companies going under.
Re: Eh?
So the best Windows Phone you've used has poor battery life and occasinoal resets when making/receiving calls?
You're not expecting very much from your phone, are you?
Re: Dear oh dear.
I'm a salesman, and I care.
Well, if an ordinary person is murdered, usually their significant other is close by with the bloody knife still in their hands and sobbing: I'm so sorry.
That's how most murders get solved you know.
Re: He keeps his desk REALLY tidy...
I left a job in a previous life and met a client face to face several months later. He was worried about my health since I was sick so very often. He thought I was still working there as he was receiving faxes and email messages from me regularly. Just no phone calls. Turns out they were still using my email address and forging my signature on faxed offers and contracts.
Oh, and I left because they decided not to pay me my bonus. Well, that’s not technically true, they just decided that it should have been a promille instead of a percentage. Slight oversight.
Re: Seriously
Ah yes, the rational approach. Let's call that plan F.
I suggest a virgin sacrifice.
Just like HTC
HTS used to just make the mobes, then design them. The big brands with all their well paid marketting managers just slapped their sticker on.
And then HTC decided they could do that too.
Re: hmmmmm
That depends.
I'm sure that not checking other websites definitely can't be considered research.
I was positive to my boss the other day
I congratulated him on his fine imperial clothing. Now where's my raise?
dogs
So you believe the server is gonna die and we're all going to be hunted down and killed like dogs.
If you say: "the server is going to die and we're all going to be hunted down and killed like dogs". You get demoted.
If you don't say "the server is going to die and we're all going to be hunted down and killed like dogs", well, then the server dies and everybody is going to be hunted down and killed like dogs. And then you get fired.
It really is a can't win - can't win situation isn't it?
Let's not kid ourselves people: if you're executive, you're f*cked.
If your managerial: you're fine.
The problem is: if everybody is managerial, we're all f*cked.
Re: demanding your right to trial by Jury costs you ten years?
Perhaps the DA really thought he didn't have a case. Perhaps he was wrong and he did have a case.
The guy turned down the 600 hours because he thought he could get away with it. That was another mistake. I hope they throw the book at him.
Re: Personally I think it's insane
"I seriously doubt punishing this man disproportionately will make the world any safer."
I think it will. We can not allow his kind, the bullies I mean, to contaminate the gene pool further. If you take him out of the loop for 10 years or more, he will have less children. With any luck, he won't have any at all.
It's a long term project.
It's the new economy stupid.
You work hard and your boss takes the profit and you say thank you.
Re: Is there a jury
Yes, well, you could turn this around. If you're hanging around on the street, selling knock-offs and scamming people, one of your victims might come looking for you.
Are you working for low-enforcement by any chance?
I' would let him off with a cheerful wave.
a solution
what would put an end to this is, if these blatant frivoulous suits would result in real people doing real time behind real bars.
Fanboi
Fanboi is the new fascist, isn't it?
Perhaps
Perhaps she fell from the sky.
Riding a ship with burning sails.
I'm pretty sure there's a premium edition without the ads.
That, or they will be rooted.
Ferrari
Ferrari didn't pantent the left blinker.
Really?
"MS were too late in the mobile phone OS".
Really?
Pocket PC 2002 was to late in 2002? When did Android and iOS enter the race then? The previous millenium?
Indeed
What, Apple plans to release new Ipads and Iphones?
I don't think we took that into account.
Oops.
padlock anybody?
I would be in all kinds of trouble if I replied to this, so I padlocked my mouth.
a bright star
After all the money spend on building the thing, then launching it then some of their best and brightest tried to save it, spending more money. Now mr. Thierry Legault was the first one to come up with the idea that perhaps it wasn't such a bad idea to take a look at the bloody thing?
Perhaps we should make him head of every space agency in the world since he obviously is the brightest star among brown dwarves.
Criminal offense
"The reason why we reserve the option to ask the buyer to destroy the goods is that in many countries, including the US, it is a criminal offense to mail counterfeit goods back to a seller", we are told."
Good thing that it's entirely legal to destroy other people property, or they would be in trouble.
I've got the solution
These companies should be fined for frivolous patenting. If they continue, their CEO could be jailed.
close?
Looking at a small globe you mean?
oh pulease
On the interwebs, everybody is such a skilled driver that he doesn't need ABS.
In real life, with only a couple of days of icy roads a year (with the last 2 winters being an exception), the majority of the drivers doesn't have any recent experience with emergency braking in icy conditions.
But that's all beside the point. ABS isn't really a computer system is it?
The problem is in the attitude towards safety in these modern times. I know I sound like an old fart, but most people seem to think "it will be alright ". And they’re right, most of the time.
But safety isn’t about “most of the time”. Safety is about “what if”. And the modern concept of safety seems to based on the notion that the “what if” situation is very unlikely. So, it will be alright.
An example. I had a very similar situation with relay 109 on my VW tdi acting up, stalling the engine. VW knew there was a problem with it and the dealers were ordered to replace this relay quietly. Perhaps they were compensated. Perhaps not. My dealer didn’t replace the relay and my engine started stalling. I brought the car in, but they couldn’t find anything. I googled it, “relay 109” came up. and I printed it out for them. "Naah, that couldn’t be it." Then the engine shut down on the highway with no hard shoulder. I was lucky and survived. I went to another dealer, and he replaced the relay.
Everybody was happy. I was happy because I survived. The original dealer was happy because he saved some money not replacing the relay. The other dealer was happy because he got a new customer and he has sold me 3 cars since then.
So, the problem is only partly with the complexity of modern systems. The major contributor is the “naah, it’ll be alright” attitude.
A blind trust in technology
A blind trust in technology without understanding the mechanism behind it, can you get killed.
Any pilot that pulls the stick back in a stall, should be executed in front of his family. Even when you've only dabbled in M$ Flight simulator you know that.
What about the captain leaving the cockpit when he knows the plane is heading towards heavy weather? What about leaving the less experienced co-pilot in charge.
Why didn't he take the controls when he finally, after being asked twice, came back to the cockpit?
These are bad decisions, but they were made under stress. Who can claim he would never make such mistakes?
I don’t agree with the optimistic note at the end: “From now on, every airline pilot will no doubt think immediately of AF447 the instant a stall-warning alarm sounds at cruise altitude.”
What? We need a plane plunging into the ocean with the stall warning blaring, just to remind us that when the stall warning is given, the plane might actually be stalling? And is stall warning something we should look into only when flying over the ocean? Or also over land? Geez, how old are these pilots? I wouldn’t let them ride a bicycle.
But the biggest mistake is in the design of the plane. Who figured it would be a good idea to average out the input from both sticks? Find out who it was and invite his family to witness his execution. Was it decided in committee? Good, there’s plenty of room in the mass grave.
This in the only way to really learn from this mess. Because the managers who managed it all wrong will take control of this “learning process” and manage to manage it all wrong again. Don’t believe they have learned a thing. If they don’t literally FEEL the consequences of their stupidity, they’ll never learn. They’ll only learn to cover their arse with more new speak.
Kill them. It’s self defence. If we don’t, they’ll kill us.
You think this is harsh? Don’t blame me, blame Darwin. Survival of the fittest, not survival of the fattest.
like Microsoft
In the early days of personal navigation, they had a virtual monopoly and they acted like Microsoft. There was no upgrade path and I was forced to buy 3 full licences for different smartphones over the years. They're website was crap and buggy. My serial number was never recognised and I was never able to download the few free upgrades I was entitled too.
And then there were alternatives. And a lot of early clients ran. Who would have thought?
It's always the same with these university educated manager types: they're shortsighted morons who think the sun shines out of their arse.
rules and procedures
We need more of them. And the more stupid they are, the more we need them.
And the mindless dumb fucks who think it is their job to enforce them. We need more of them also.
But if banks and hughe sums of money are involved, then we don't need rules. Then we need deregulation.
Alec is my hero. We fight the same fight.
Yes, well the Harrier would be going from point C, the carrier, to point B. And since point C would be much closer to point B than point A is...
Indeed
Sales is a messy business, dealing with customers and all that.
It's far more comfortable to be in administration and churn out "procedures".
And you can piss off the sales people.
turning up late
I remember turning up right on time for an interview and being led into a room where about a dozen of other people were waiting. After a while it became obvious that they were all applying for the same position and some of them had been waiting there for over several hours.
When more candidates showed up at regular intervals, I decided to quit before I was even hired and left the building.
Now I am worried that perhaps I failed some stress test???
Please explain to me ...
Why I would want to work for your shitty company?
Or in an a later stage.
Why I would continue to work for your shitty company?
And you could elaborate:
We both know it's not the royal paycheck.
We both know it's not the extra's
We both know it's not he appreciation shown by management.
I have the sollution
We put the people, responsible for the ECB not being allowed to print money and buy bonds, in front a firing squad.
They are willing to risk the entire economy all because of "procedure"? Let's see if they're willing to lose their lives because of their holy procedure.
Powdered rhino horn
When this stuff is found by customs, it should be enriched by a pinch of arsenic and let through. When the rich and stupid start to keel over, blame Darwin.
How do you arrest somebody ...
Who probably would enjoy having the cuffs slapped on him?
Does this mean
The spooks have upgraded Stuxnet and no longer need this security hole, so now M$ is allowed to fix it?
No
This is not to supposed to be in the public domain.
So no email . . .
And this would have taken them how long to fix?
Price Fixing = Murder
Just like downloading is stealing.
