Musk is in contempt of court, screams SEC after Tesla boss brags about car production rates

WireBug

Re: Like or Dislike, Musk is not in the wrong here, the SEC is.

I would argue that you need more sources than this single article. Shareholders were already briefed on the information Musk tweeted. PUBLICY available information. Why would he need permission to REPEAT publicly available information..... It was all breifed to the shareholders long before he tweeted it.... SEC has a bone to pick with Musk, plain and simple.

WireBug

Like or Dislike, Musk is not in the wrong here, the SEC is.

Musk' did not make any statement in his tweet that was not already public knowledge.... fact.

Musk' tweet altered nothing with Telsa stock, fact!

SEC making claims that musk breached contract, Tesla stock falls slightly... tell me, who is really in the wrong here. It's not Musk, his statement had no effect on their stock..... but the moment the SEC started crying foul, the stock price fell.... hmmmmm....

Everything's fine, says Cylance, as workers given the boot

WireBug

it is still horrible with false positives. someone decided we need to use the product and I have NO confidence in this product... it fails all my tests and has only picked up false positives for legit products that I have installed.

I know they like having no signatures, but how about cross checking the hash values or something..... all my test files went ignored by Cylance....

Is that a Veeam in HPE's eye? IT giant may gobble backup biz

WireBug

Like every other time a large company buys a successful smaller one, HP will hose this product.... We have a small network compared to an enterprise, but Veeam has been a rock solid product since we started using it. I've even had to use their support a couple times and they were amazing. At no point during the support did I feel like they were trying to "rush me through the door" and were genuinely helpful in resolving my issues.

I really hope HP does not try to mess with the software, it's a great product, please don't screw it up. I been so much happier since I left BackupExec in the past :)

Microsoft baits new vSphere-to-Hyper-V switch offer

WireBug

NOPE!

Nope, i've lost all trust in MS after the windows 10 fiasco. That was just really bad business the way they pushed it out.

Why would I give up a solid hypervisor with excellent management and services for their free and crippled version of a hypervisor.... it's barely a virtual platform with clunky tools... i'll stick with what I have thank you very much!

IT freely, a true tale: One night a project saved my life

WireBug

Happened to me once

I didn't realize it at the time, but I had a job that did this to me. They kept increasing my work load. When I finally broke and said "This is too much" I was told "We'll deal with it and see what can be done"

Things were OK for about 2 weeks, then it started all over again... only now it was "Your the best we have, you HAVE to take this, no one else will take it!".

Anyway, in the end, I broke, I burned out and walked away from the employer mid work day. I walked into my bosses office, said "I'm fucking done with this job, here!" handed in my laptop and phone and walked away, without a single word and went home. I spent the next 3 months healing and trying to cope with what happened. It wasn't until I got a new job that I realized it was the job, not me... with a new employer I fell right back into IT and loved it again!

I was fortunate in the way that I had established a solid reputation as a tech and a few months later a few of my old "Contract" companies called me to offer me a job.

The take away for me, I now know my personal warning signs of burning out, and I am able to better identify bad employers. In the end, we have to stand up for ourselves.

Adblock Plus blocked from attending ad industry talkfest

Malvertising

Malvertising is the sole reason I block Ads. After getting hit a couple times from infected Ad Networks I had enough and started blocking them... My Web experience has been better for it and my computer runs better for it.

I recommend everyone try out OpenDNS... you get a free account for home and just block malware and ad networks.. works a treat for home use. Also have a corporate account with work... great service!

BUE is a nightmare long behind me since our environment went virtual. Sorry Symantec, but BUE just does not cut it anymore.... Veeam is a backup dream come true and I sleep much more easily at night with it taking care of our backups.

WireBug

Agree with Woz

Gotta agree with Wozzie on this. I own an ipad and was considering upgrading, then i saw the specs and the price for the new devices.

The new devices do not offer the storage i want, nor are they really offering anything new for the price point... sorry Apple, but if you want to keep charging premium prices, you need to give us premium hardware.

If they at least offered a microSD slot i would reconsider, but i just don't see that happening in Apple's world.

Windows 8.1: Read this BEFORE updating - especially you, IT admins

WireBug

Not Funny!

Start Menu!?!?! I have upgraded. what they call a start menu is just a link that takes you to Metro (or whatever they call it)

If this is a joke, I am not laughing.... I use the windows key for that function.

Here's a tip:

On your task bar right click -- Tool bars -- New Tool bar

select the start menu folder located in programdata\windows\start menu

done like dinner and no 3rd party app required.

Apple debuts two-step verification for Apple IDs

Half Baked Attempt

Half baked attempt in my opinion. IMHO they should be offering security key tokens (Key FOB?) Even Blizzard offers these. I would pay a decent price for the token... they could even offer an app for mobile phones that accomplishes the same thing... although if all you have is an iphone it gets difficult, but having the physical token option would negate that.....

Come on Apple, try harder

Windows 7 customers hit by service pack 1 install 'fatal error' flaws

WireBug
FAIL

MWAHAHAHAHA

Turn of WSUS??? For real? That comment is a little extreme. If you are using WSUS just tell it not to install the Service Pack.

When I heard W7 SP1 was coming I immediatly turned off deployment of service packs for Win 7 until I know it is not going to crash half my users PC's... thankfully I did since it appears to have a negetive impact on OEM installs....

I am astounded that you would simply tell people to turn off WSUS completely.... sheesh

Assumptions

I find it interesting that so many people assume hotmail accounts are required to use MSN. This is not true, you can create a LiveID with a GMail or any email address you want. LiveID = MSN access and any other MS site that uses Live ID's.

<Sarcasm>Hotmail is great</sarcasm>, at least for signing up to questionable sites or mailing lists... LOL I prefer my Gmail over hotmail and ISP mail any day.....

M$ Dropped the ball

I too have been suffering since the change of the VL Site. I have been using the same liveID for a few years now and after they "updated" the service I was no longer the admin.... I am the only admin at my organization.... There were also 5+ year old email contacts that didn't even exist that appeared in the user administration. I called MS to get my admin status return all I got was a case number and have been ignored for weeks now.... to top it off, the old email addresses that were listed were from our VENDOR, not our company *sighs*
