Not cool, Adobe: Give the Ninite guys a job, not the middle finger

Nader

Adobe aren't very consumer-friendly, and now they're bullying businesses into their cloud solution as well, making licensing way more expensive for many businesses.

Ninite shouldn't pay Adobe any attention at all.

Microsoft Surface slate: Acer, resellers predict a riot

Nader

You know what you're talking about

Acer has the worst support in the business (of the big OEM companies) , and they don't care to ask what the customer wants. ASUS is the only manufacturer that actually asks AND delivers what people want.

I'm eagerly awaiting the new MS tablets. Finally full Windows functionality in a nice format!

Hunt: We'll slightly inconvenience pirate sites

Nader
FAIL

Totally. I mostly download TV shows that will be on TV in my country much later anyways, and I pay for those channels, so why should I be labeled a pirate? I mean, I could have waited 2-6 months and recorded these shows on my PVR, but I want to see it now, and I know English very well, so I have to resort to torrent sites, because the distributors don't want to sell these shows online to others than Americans. The old physical borders issue again, only by IP.

Exactly!

The more money and power you have, the less actionable you become.

Nader

I would gladly pay for my movies and TV shows, but they don't want to sell 'em to me.

Acer founder: 'Tablets, ultrabooks just a fad'

Nader
WTF?

Acer needs to get with the program

I am more than happy to pay more for a sleek, thin 13" SSD-driven laptop with a high-resolution screen (like the 1440x900 matte screen on the new 13" Macbook Air), that will keep running for over 4 hours, compared to a bulky, ugly 14-16" with a reflective "HD" resolution (1366x768) screen, standard hard drive which slows everything down, and battery time of upto 2 hours. Not to mention the heat and fan noise due to the extra graphics card, which you really don't need anyways, because gaming with an Acer will melt the whole thing within a few months.

When does the money arrive?

Very soon! They are writing the search algorithm for it right now.

WTF?

Why don't they put the Intel in Intelligence?

Because this USB 3.0 delay by Intel is not very smart!

I'm surprised

that with such vast resources, Microsoft can't even come up with a webcam data compression codec and proper printing support?! What is the deal here? Do the different teams within MS never help each other? Smells like poor management...

The most IOPS for your buck!

According to some really cool hardware geeks I know, these are the disks to get if you're looking for the most IOPS for your buck for a smaller server or other home computer.

With three of these disks in RAID-0 on a ICH10R or better controller, you could get upwards of 90.000 IOPS / second read and 30.000 IOPS / write perfomance. *Not MY numbers.

The recommended chunk size is 16 to 128, but 128 is the overall best performing size to go for, unless you could benefit from smaller sizes due to very specific purposes.
