'Men only' job ad posts land Facebook in boiling hot water with ACLU

Re: The ACLU is only interested because it is Fac$book...

No they are only interested in discrimination against women. Yes, hypocritical, double standard I know, but that is the gynocentric society we live in.

Canny Brits are nuking the phone bundle

Re: I never quite understood why one would get a bundle

Depends on the contract. I saved £100 on my Samsung S9 by buying a contract from mobiles.co.uk It was a Vodafone red one, but much cheaper through them.

Brits whinging less? About ISPs, networks and TV? It's gotta be a glitch in the Matrix

Less Copper to the premises...

A digital watermark produced by his Sly box.

Re: Card Number?

The Sly satellite broadcast can no longer be decrypted in anything other than Sly hardware, that little loophole changed recently (about a week or two before this fight). Therefore there is a fingerprint code which is added by the Sly box, that is how Sly traced this chap. Most illegal streams usually use Virgin feed which can still be decrypted via card sharing, so no fingerprint code (a loophole which is due to be closed soon), or have software to obscure the fingerprint code.

I agree, Intel's branding of i3 i5 i7 are much easier than obscure names!

All-American Apple challenges US gov call for iOS 'backdoor'

Reverse engineering not possible?

Surely, with their resources they could reverse engineer these devices to allow them to brute force the encryption. Yes it would be expensive and difficult, but it's the US govt FFS!

Reliant on Dell for PCs? Start looking around, says Gartner ball-gazer

So True...

Their account managers moved to India a few years ago and it's been crap ever since. I imagine a lot of purchasers are already looking elsewhere.

Brits upscaling their TV buys

alcopops

Could it be HD?

Back then there was hardly any HD content, so blowing it up bigger than 42" would make it look blocky. Nowadays HD means we need a bigger set to appreciate the better picture quality.

Re: worst hosting company I ever had the misfortune to deal with

Yes, they are dreadful. Slow website, email errors and appalling overseas support. If you wanted to make a bad web hosting company - they tick all the boxes.

Misery at Acer: 'Breaking even this year is impossible'

Happy

Crap Support Service

Just spent the whole day being palmed from one Acer department to the other. Nobody can tell me how I can return a faulty battery I purchased for a client. Acer are top of my shitlist of toxic brands I would never purchase, if they go under never to resurface again I wouldn't be too distressed.

Apparently no ads

They have said on their website:

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,,19501_7066689,00.html

that there will be no ad breaks. Still, doubt the coverage will be as good as the beeb though.

Mobee Magic Charger

WTF?

Have I missed something

Couldn't you just get a rechargeable mouse with cradle? I have one, it cost me about £7 from ebuyer a couple of years back. I know people who purchase Apple generally are happy to get ripped off for their tech, but £45!

If they were to invent one that charged itself off your movement motion, now that would be worthwhile!

UK will obey Euro unisex-insurance rules from 2013

Thumb Up

Most men are good drivers...

so why should only men and all men bear the brunt of the dangerous few. If it's acceptable to use gender as a factor when charging for services then why not tax females more, after all they use more of the NHS, work less, and earn less!

Sky loses pub footy case

Will it make much difference?

People can already purchase foreign subs + rotating dishes over the net if they wish to. It's usually supplied by third party companies and in the end isn't really that much cheaper.

BT's onshoring call centres scheme continues

Finally the penny's dropped

Having dealt with BT's frankly awful technical support it can only be good news. When will businesses realise how unattractive an overseas call centre makes them to the consumer.

Acer are useless

Yes, after various bad experiences with Acer's support department on their other products I would steer well clear of buying an Acer phone.
