Kiwi judge rules Kim Dotcom can be extradited to USA

Heathroi
Holmes

Re: Huh, Wha'?

No. the american movie and music people got to FBI to assist with defending copyright from various people whose servers where used to shift on copies of said stuff without authorization from owners, Kim being one of those. The FBI is asking the Kiwis to allow Kim to be removed to the US where the complaints were laid. if thats right or wrong i couldn't say

the complication is that Kim foolishly involved himself in NZ politics (such as they are) and as such the NZ govt will quietly and administratively gut him, could take a while but it will happen.

German tanks started out rubbish and only got better once they came up again the Russian KV and T34s. the French tanks were easily better in 1940 but the stupid french government pissed that advantage away.

Re: "standardize hard and change infrequently"

The Roman Empire didn't just collapse because of Barbarian invasion. Usually they would under sufference take in a bunch treat them like crap, then flap round for bit while the Barbarbians revolted, (having first taught them effective soldiering) then would struggle to recover the area because the locals for one welcomed their new barbarian overlords who didn't know much about the niceties of the Roman class system ands its taxing methods and cared even less. Add to that the constant threat by various Roman provincial military commands against the emperor (Britain was a favourite as you could half way across Gaul with your legions before anybody know what you were cooking up)

The US idea of a national park was a generally useless but pretty and natural piece of property far away from the cities where one could meet with like minded people and not be disturbed by dreadful people of the middle class (let alone the working classes) that could be maintained at the nations expense

if a use could be found for it, I'm sure it could be deparkified in short order.

America was founded on a dislike of taxes, so how did it get the IRS?

Heathroi

one way to establish a credit history if you know you are coming to the US for a while before actually arriving is go to your current bank and use their contacts to transfer your foriegn cards into US cards, if you just turn up, you might have come from bongobongoland. amex probably works best for that.

What a pity: Rollout of hated UK smart meters delayed again

Here in the suburbs of Chicago, the Power co simply came and put one in. Didn't take long actually spent more time discussing an access panel on the meterbox that had pulled away from the chassis by a piss poor concrete pour when the house was built 38 years ago. They pulled my duct taping away but couldn't think of any other fix other than put their own on and said they would put an order in for a tech to fix it. believe it or not nobody has come back to look at that.

Re: @Trevor_Pott: What have you been smoking?

trev, you don't know what a monopoly is do you? its regulation in favour of a firm or a number of firms,

social democracy is merely 50%+1 might is right. how does social democracy restain monopoly ? it can't because it hates heresy or choices. How does it drive margins down? by limiting choice and veriation, if the customer is allowed it at all.

Globalization, zero regulation by the state are postive boon IMHO and the last is problem caused by the state's monopoly over money and the financiers utilizing that monopoly to their own advantage.

Why is Spain held to be indivisible? Just because two nobs merged their family 'firms' centuries ago. doesn't mean the descendants of the subjects of the king and queen of Castile and Aragon must be held by that.
