El Reg deploys (extra) comment icons

Ed Motler

I'm with stooopid.

How about an icon for.

"I need to use this icon to explain to you what my post is about and how it needs to be interpreted because you lot are all so fucking stupid you need annoying pictures to help you understand any statement over two lines long. It's not that El Reg is dumbing down. Were just compensating for our less educated brethren, which happens to be you. Yes you!"

Judge rules Gore's film an inconvenient catalogue of errors

@Alastair McKinstry

You should read Bjorn Lomburg more carefully he has never denied Man made climate change. I quote; "This chapter accepts the reality of man-made global warming" (p259) The Skeptical Environmentialist, 1998, By Bjorn Lomburg.

The whole issue needs much more open minded debate and the realisation that none of us really know what we are talking about. Take for example the issue of the Ice Calving in Antarctica. Much has been made about this terrifying development in Global Warming.

Well here is what the British Antartic Survey have to say about it.

"Unlike in the Arctic, where there has been a significant decline in observed sea ice extent over this period, there has been little change in the overall extent of Antarctic sea ice. However, at a regional scale, sea ice cover has declined substantially in the seas to the west of the Antarctic Peninsula but loss of ice here has been compensated by increased ice cover in other parts of the Antarctic6."

All we ever hear is the bad stuff though. They go on to state that they predict increased snow fall in the central Antarctic core and state that whilst atmospheric temperature above Antarctica has risen below 8km, above this height temperature has fallen.

The list goes on and on and that's one example.

I'm glad that someone has finally pointed out that it's no all as straight forward as Al Gore wants to brainwash us into thinking it is.

Apple rings in changes with iPod Touch

Ed Motler

You people realy...

I swear some people must sit at their computers for months on end waiting for Apple to release a new product just so that they can slate it.

The iPod touch is an iPod that looks cool it's got a touch screen and it's going to sell like hot cakes and you all know it. The competition can't match it, and they don't have the brand. Only Sony have the brand to come close with Walkman but they don't have a product like Apples. That's it end of story. Get over it.

So it only has 16Gb Flash memory? Err do I care? No. Will models with more capacity follow? Err Yes.

Oh it doesn't have email!! It's a frikkin MP3 player not a laptop. Doh!

And if you actually have a record collection of 40,000 tunes that you absolutely must have on a portable device go get an 80GB iPod classic and stop whining because most people don't need it.

DVLA urged to consider number plate recognition

Ed Motler

Pffft!

I get it. Instead of scrapping the vastly unpopular and costly to manage Car Tax system and adding the tax onto fuel. Which would be fairer.

Let's introduce another costly system to clamp down on dastardly evaders and spend the requisite millions more on even more stazi like threatening TV advertising.

Spend more money having "illegal peoples" cars crushed and tie up more of the Polices time stopping and prosecuting tax ne'er-do-wells.

Right that makes sense. !$%*@#!

Apple's Safari 3: a crashing experience for non-US users

Ed Motler

No problems so far.

I don't have any of these issues so far. It's faster than Firefox and Opera but certainly not as featured. I quite like it. The Find feature is a good tool, but it can't match Firefox for clever and intuative features.

But it's not aimed at us developers is it. Apple know that the 80% of people who are stuck with the disaster that is IE 7 will start using Safari quite happy once it's bundled with the next iTunes download.

The most amusing thing is the annoyance the it seems to have caused so many El Reg commentators. Mean's Steve must have hit a nerve. :0)
