It's amusing that when the marketing department get to write the pre-order material they say that the items are 'essential' for a particular class.

Then, when they need to write the follow up, they say that the items don't change the balance at all.

Can you really believe them?

I'm not sure £5000 even buys a normal corporate firewall and a party supported by Labour, Conservative and Liberal? I don't even think the 'Save the kittens from neo-nazi animal killers society' would get open support from all three parties.

iPhone speed test

I wouldn't trust the speed test results. Acording to their site my speed is currently 1.8Mb/s up and 0.4Mb/s down.

Think broadband correctly states 92Mb/s up and 16.5 down

Fixed cycle

Isn't this the big issue with a patch cycle? Every cracker and virus writer know exactly how to get 29 days of un-patched systems

Backups

Would I be right in saying that even if you were careful enough to make backups that are held off site the police would just take these as well to see if the offending article is on them?

Have you read the blog post? UAC does block the problem hence why it is an important update (one that gets patched automatically through Windows Update) and not a critical update (runs code without user intervention).

Also what does this even have to do with IE? It is a worm, you don't do anything. Also most home users should find their router protects them from attack, unless an infected computer comes inside the network.

By having standard mode on intranet sites the organisation can choose to over-ride it with a group policy.

Users without group policy shouldn't have to worry as they are unlikely to be looking at intranet documents.

I wonder who's definition of personal firewall they are using.

Is a computer behind a router a personal firewall

Is a computer running XP SP2 or Vista a personal firewall

Or do you have to go and buy zonealarm to save yourself a big bill

Or perhaps a massive amount of the compromised computers are in businesses that don't know how to secure their systems, which have them turned off on those days.

Archos 605

With such an appauling review it makes it seem like the Archos 605 (I own one, a brilliant bit of kit) with a docking station is a much better investment than this standalone unit.

But still, I'll be sticking with the slingbox and hoping to get a slingcatcher when it comes out.

More uses than you'd think

If, like me, you have a TV, Digital TV and a DVD / Games player and your other half likes to use it to watch DVDs then this little box would be fine for watching the TV.

I have the full slingbox and use it all the time, but I'm not sure I've ever used the tuner when the 9200t is so good and the only think going through the scart cable is box after box of star-trek-the-next-generation-voyager-enterprise.

So it's the parents fault then?
