ZX Spectrum Vega Plus backers complain of months-long refund delays

BugMan

Re: "Uncle" Clive's" business model.

Hang on! You got a free ZX-Printer? That's just not fair, I still have my serial number 403 ZX-Spectrum (complete with cockroach) and got nothing in compensation for the wait, not even an apology. Where do I appeal? Is it too late?

How practical is an electric car in London?

BugMan

Make Electric Cars wait

If eco-freako electric car drivers really cared about the environment, they wouldn't be looking for benefits like driving in bus lanes and getting priority over everyone else - It's obvious the most environmentally friendly thing for the to do is for them to give way to everyone else, so that the emissions of gas-guzzlers are minimised - that's why I never give way to Pri-arses

Make then wait......

So when Virgin accidentally ported my phone number to someone else for 3 weeks

does that mean they could also have given all my money to them as well?

It's OK though, because after spending hours and hours on the phone, they eventually got my number back... and credited £30 compensation TO THE WRONG number!

Have none of you heard of Torque on the Android AppStore

Add a generic £12 Bluetooth OBDII reader from ebay and a cheap tablet and you have a fully customisable instrument instrument cluster and SOOOO much more including all your entertainemnt needs, sat nav, a full log of your journeys uploaded to YOUR own personal server and viewable on Google maps, complete will all engine parameters.

Get Torque - there's even a free version to try before you buy but well worth the money for the paid one

Re: Limited Expansion

No that I'm bitter or anything......

BugMan

Limited Expansion

Their expansion plans are now so limited, they won't even pull a cable 20m through their existing trunking between their street cabinet and my house to connect me to fibre - on that basis, they lost a customer willing to pay for the complete broadband/phone/tv package.

Houses that connected in the Telewest days in my street get fibre, the houses next door, with all the infrastructure in place for the service but old RF cable between cabinet and house, get cr@ppy ADSL instead.

Why they needed the NI Numbers

is already implied in the article - as payroll records are tied to NI Numbers, they needed them to deduct membership fees.

My wife got her letter a couple of weeks ago; it is full of weasel words explaining that they believe that, to the best of their current knowledge, no personal fraud appears to have been attempted, as far as they can tell, given al the facts that they are currently aware of....

The excuse is ful of about as many holes as their security - as far as I am aware, based on the fact that I am currently aware of, excluding those that I may become aware of in the fulness of time or which I may have inadvatently been aware of at some point in the past but have subsequently forgotten. Dixons returns to profit in UK, rubs hands as Comet circles drain

BugMan
Angel

Oddly enough

I've found myself buying from Dixons a couple time times this year - the primary reason being that they were cheaper that buying online - now that is strange. The fact that you can actually look at the goods you're buying is a double bonus.

So that either means that online prices have risen or Dixons has got cheaper - or both I guess.

Stealth Bonk

I wonder how thin the stickers are? would they fit on the inside of the back of my mobe case so I could pay by stealth bonk? I quite like the idea of a stealth bonk

And why limit outselves to affixing the sticker to our mobe? There are endless possiblilities and I think El Reg should open a competition for the most innovative or unusual instrument to be waved in front of the payment terminal....
