DreamWorks CEO: Movie downloaders should pay by screen size
I don’t actually see something like this being that bad. Why not let the movie be at the cinema for a few weeks then distribute it over services like Netflix? I went off the cinema the day it cost me 30+ pounds to pay for 2 tickets, 2 Juices and a popcorn. Its daylight robbery at cinemas, i want freedom to watch movies but not a year after they have been at the cinema!

'Daddy, can I use the BLACK iPAD?': Life with the Surface Pro 2
Really good article enjoyed it. I tend to agree with the last guy that had a go on it. Unless im docking it into another monitor then its just to small to get my work done on it (not sure if i can dock it?). Its like the 11 inch mac air, too small again.
13 inch is as small as i would go tbh, I sometimes find my 15 inch laptop to small if I don’t have access to another monitor.

Microsoft plugs Xbox One consoles into its cloud - what could go wrong?
As far as im aware have PC devs not been able to do this already....for years?
Why such a big fuss for stuff that has been held back from consoles and should have been there years ago. The devs are getting dedicated servers essentially, and this is nothing new to any gamer that has played more than call of duty: super ops on the xbox or playstation.

"Certainly if they are anything like UK government depts. are at specifying and obtaining delivery of projects then the whole thing will be a cluster-fuck from beginning to end."
Seconded. This new spine 2.0 project in NHS they have started sounds really interesting. Whether the NHS manage to turn it into one huge "clusterfuck" is yet to be seen. But going by past projects its a ticking time bomb.

"hasn't used .doc for many versions now."
I think that’s why he got his grump on in the first place, the fact they change the .doc/.docx every version forcing users into upgrading to keep up with their constant change of proprietary formats. Which in reality make no difference to your common user.

WHY didn't Microsoft buy RIM? Us business blokes would have queued for THAT phone
"1) RIM never built really good smartphones. The only killer feature was its messaging service, which appealed to the business users wanting it. If you didn't need it, there were better ones."
No the actual build quality from the hardware was second to none. Under the plastic was a metal shell around all the components that stopped tampering or any kind of post forensics. It wasn’t impossible but in comparison to the alternatives they were leaps and bounds ahead.
Only reason I know this was because was present at a conference where the MET police discussed it. Very interesting, because they hated getting BB's because they were so much harder to get any information off.

Re: Entire article is full of FUD bullshit
Correct me if im wrong but its going to cause problems for drivers. Proprietary graphics drivers are going to be designed for this window manager and not Wayland. Leaving everyone else that doesn’t want to use Mir with drivers like we have just now. aka sh*t.
