I have to agree with the survey

That really is pretty much how I see it: there's still a awful lot of VB about (*spits*) though much of it has become VB .Net (that I've seen....) but C like languages are do seem to be the way of the future. That said I'm biased: I spend all day coding in C# (and I'm really not doing bolt and assemble jobs, despite the comment above at time of posting)

Good to see not a single person here in favour of merkin bud

Any one would think that geeks, perhaps unlike the general population, actually cared about what they drank.

The cost

for $300 a unit I'll put a PIC in a nice steel box with a detinator. I'll even include some rubber bits so it doesn't move about too much.

I'll also keep $250 a unit as profit.

Thumb Down

Cattle farmers wanting to do their part should plant wheat instead of raising cattle

because obviously you can grow wheat everywhere you can grow goats...

Most humous dismisal story I heard for a while

Featured a PCW employee fired for snorting coke from the "repair centre" counter. it assumed me.

I've used them for ink when I lived over the road. Even then it hurt but I was a student with a deadline to miss.

There problem is as others have pointed out the world is lousy with people who know enough to say "Don't go there"

modafinil related joy

"I've wanted some modafinil since it was in New Scientist "

I know of geeks (PHD types) who order it online too improve the amount of time they can spend in the lab. Granted he does this to allow him to spend more than dawn till dusk in the lab and also do other stuff.

I also know guys who work in entertainments (think: 9am get in, gig at 7, finish gig at 11, leave building at 2 if really lucky) get proscribed the stuff for "chronic shift work syndrome" from there GP's.

Must say I'm rather tempted my self: you don't feel stimulated, just you don't particularly need to sleep. Only downside is that your immune system should be working over night: it took a week of 0 sleep to kill the rats it tested on. The brain apparently copes surprisingly well with it.

State-sider here ... what's tippex?

Do you have white out?

Referred to as idiot ink, for use on an old fashioned medium lacking such things as a delete key. White paint, found about offices for blanking out words on paper. Full of all sorts of exciting chemicals, which if pissed enough some one my try to get high on...

Similar tricks

Landlord of a pub near me lost his fruity when some guys (wearing Hi-Vis Jackets, steels and holding a clip-board with a form on it) came in with a hand truck and told the landlord that his fruit machine was up for replacement. They got him to sign to sign the form, wheeled his out, calmly loaded thier truck and f***ed off with out replacing it. One phone call later and he ascertained he'd just been shafted.

Failing that

If you want to make peoples lives hard OR '*' would be mostly amusing. The expression "a good argument for birth control" could be relevant here.
