That's right. Neither can Charles Manson win.

Netscape icon

It makes be feel a bit sad looking at that Netscape icon and realising that Microsoft killed them. Netscape was a true pioneer and had so much potential, but I guess we have Google who fulfilled the great internet vision that Netscape failed to do.

Linux chief calls for FAT-free Microsoft diet

David
Gates Horns

FAT & BLOAT

It seems that Microsoft own FAT and you can add BLOAT too.

Yes it is a good idea to be more healthy and thinner as it allows you to maneuver quicker. Using Microsoft tech will only slow everything down and it is an unnecessary expense.

Say no to FAT and BLOAT today.

Microsoft plays coy over iPhone Office

David

Office won't run on the iPhone

Apple will need to create a new device if they want that BLOAT to run on an iPhone

Record Companies are getting payback

When you abuse your power, when you suppress people, it is only a matter of time before you lose. If the record companies knew their history, they would know that they can't abuse people for too long before they get one up on ya.

Hi this is Steve Ballmer.

When I catch you (and I will) I will tie you up in my office and throw chairs at you all day. Then I will hand you over to Bill the next day, and he will force you to use Microsoft software for a day. That will teach you.

Silverlight for Linux hits with Microsoft punch

David

Hang on a minute.

"The goal is to let users on Linux machines play video and enjoy the same breadth of content and quality of experience enjoyed by users running Silverlight on PCs or even Macs."

Um, who said that we want Silverlight. We don't care about Silverlight. We have Flash and Java. Thanks all the same, but no thanks.

Apologies after teacher's 'Linux holding back kids' claim

Irony

The irony here is that Linux will be mainstream as a client. It is called Android and will be the dominant OS for portable devices and Laptops too. That is my prediction.

Chromefirexplorer girds loins against rich and closed

David
Gates Horns

Another reason for Chrome

Another reason for Chrome is that Google gets a window into the habits of web surfers which improves their AI and advertising. Microsoft and Apple have their own browsers and this gives them an advantage as they have an eye from the client end. So even if Google get 5% of the browser market it is enough to get valuable information on clients surfers habits and coupled with their other stats and information at the server end, they get a fuller picture of what is going on.

Why port your Firefox add-on to Internet Explorer?

David
Gates Horns

No way

Why waste our time with IE?. Microsoft should do that themselves.

Firefox is for the people and is open. IE is a proprietary bunch of slow bloat from the 90s.

Asus to phase out sub-10in Eee PCs, says CEO

Someone else will take the Linux Netbook market

If Asus drop the Linux Netbook market then the dumb @#$% are giving it to someone else. However, Microsoft may have paid them to lose that market.

At the end of the day, there is demand for Linux in Netbooks and someone will deliver it.

Blu-ray Disc a 'bag of hurt', says Jobs

David

DivX is best

The problem with DVD and probably Blueray is all the nag screens you get and associated video pirate messages. With DivX the movie just plays. This suits me because I play the same movies for my kid and having to hit the next button 10 times at a cost of 1 -2 minutes is a pain. Times that by 50 which is about how many times my kid has watched Finding Nemo and that is a whole hour of my life right there.

DivX or downloads for me.

Say no to nag screens.

I fixed this problem

It has nothing to do with the database as someone in the comments said. It is a hack on the header.php and one other file (which I cannot remember) in Wordpress. I fixed the problem by making the header.php file non-writable and it stopped this attack in its tracks.

Im one of those trolls

"For Ozzie, inventor of the hated Lotus Notes and now driving Microsoft's "software plus services" strategy, Microsoft will surpass the capabilities of Amazon, forcing even those hateful little trolls in the open source community to come to love its online services."

I am one of those trolls. Ha ha, and I will never learn to love a convicted and abusive monopolist, no matter what they do. You have to feel good about those you do business with or collaborate with, that is just common sense. The mere mention of Microsoft makes my blood boil.

I don't like to inflict pain on myself. I will stick with Open Source and Google too.

Imitators not innovators

<quote>Time to deploy demos to divert and confound financial analysts. Ballmer brought on lower-ranking executives to demonstrate changes in Live Search that add capabilities such as scrolling down an endless page of search results, rather than having to click through to a new page of results as you do with Google, </quote>

ISO appear to be corrupt

ISO appears to be corrupt. Why else would they support a convicted monopolists file formats as a standard. The point of a standard is that all can use it, but Microsoft have a history of extorting large sums of cash to use their api's and barring others from using their file formats.

ODF is a great file format and anyone can use it. Why make Microsoft's impossible file formats a standard?

Maybe ISO is open to cash payments? I wouldn't be surprised. Very suspicious behavior.

The war on photographers - you're all al Qaeda suspects now

I was aressted in Colombia for these photos

I was arrested in Colombia for ttaking photos. I managed tried to defend myself in English to this guard who could only speak spanish. Finally I thought the guard who arrested me let me go, I said "thanks senor", and walked off into the sunset. Later my wife later told me that I misunderstood him and he wasn't letting me go at all. But the guard didn't come after me, so I guess he just wanted to forget about his encounter with a dumb tourist.

Here are the so-called sensitive pics:

al Qaeda has a front company

al Qaeda created a company called Google to photograph the world and get away with it. Once they have the photos, they are planning on folding up Google as it will no longer be useful.

The police need to arrest everyone at Google because they are terrorists.

Go the Police and don't forget that half the public are terrorists too, they have cameras in their cellphones.

This is not paranoia, just prevention.

Microsoft should buy Rackable instead of building custom computers

David

Rackable may have lots of Linux customers.

Maybe Microsoft doesn't want to support them.

Maybe Microsoft doesn't want to be that efficient and instead prefer to use bloated Vista and the extra power and hardware needed to run it.

Hell who cares about Microsoft anyway. They are late to the game and are now a has-been.

Open Source isn't the issue

>>It's one thing to support open source. It's another thing to demand that anything not open source be banned and boycotted.

It's not that open source is the only option, but that Microsoft a convicted monopolist is playing everyone again as usual. They prey on the IT illiterate and that is why Open Sources are complaining, because they are the literate ones.
