Sorry, Californians, you can't have this: Asus to build WATER COOLED notebook

Peter Johnstone

Re: Only PURE water is an insulator...

Wrong. Even pure water will conduct electricity. H20 ionises to H+ OH-. At any given time a small fraction of water will exist in the ionised form, allowing it to conduct electricity. Furthermore, more water will ionise in the presence of an electric current.

Re: Integrated Strap?

I'm with you on that, although I have the opposite problem. I've got fairly slender wrists for an adult male, and always have to remove links from straps to get them to fit. I never buy leather or fabric straps as they invariably don't have enough holes to go narrow enough to fit me.

Have you reinstalled Windows yet? No, I just want to PRINT THIS DAMN PAGE

Peter Johnstone
FAIL

Printers are bad enough but the prize for the worst IT product I've ever had the misfortune to own goes to the Belkin Wireless G All-In-One Print Server F1UP0002UK. Couldn't get it to work reliably via wireless so had to keep it connected to my router. The software that came with it was windows only so had to use bootcamp to print from my mac. No 64bit drivers, although managed to find a compatible driver elsewhere. Propriety software that basically took ownership of the printer then released it after an idle time only if you checked a setting in the preferences that always unchecked itself on my wife's laptop. If she shut down her laptop without disconnecting, you'd have to reboot the device to release it, otherwise no-one could print at all. I'd punt it on ebay, but I don't think I'd sleep at night!

In my post I'd written 好极了! (pronounced hao ji le) meaning 'very good'.

Wheaty73 replied 谢谢你!(pronounced xie xie ni) which you correctly identified as 'thank you'.

I've replied with the traditional response, 不客气 (pronounced bu ke qi) roughly translates as 'no need to be polite'.

Re: >> the day English has officially lost it's grip on the world

I think that mongo was actually referring to the incorrect usage of the apostrophe in the word its changing its meaning from possessive form of it (the intended meaning) to 'it is' or 'it has' (the usage of an apostrophe to show possession is incorrect for personal pronouns). For a fuller explanation see: http://www.eng-lang.co.uk/apostrophe_rules.htm. Personally I think that's a bit pedantic even for this site!

Advertisers must think that we're stupid. I can tell that my behaviour is being tracked because I'm being shown ads for stuff that I've recently bought online. Re: atheist 'sense'

"For a bunch of people who do not even have a basis for good or bad, right or wrong, atheist appear to love to talk alot about how bad others are. They do not appear to realise that atheism gives one no way to determine either.

For a bunch of people that claim to 'think for themselves', atheists display a singular lack of ability in that respect."

I am an atheist. My parents are Christians. I arrived at the the conclusion that there was no God by questioning the teachings of the religion of my parents. All atheists would have religious ancestors, so at some point the've chosen to abandon religion by thinking for themselves. Unless you've converted to Islam, it's likely that your belief has been bestowed upon you by your parents, so the thinking for yourself argument hardly stands.

I am an atheist. I believe that there is no God. No God means probably no afterlife. No afterlife means you only get one shot at life. Therefore murder destroys the potential that a person had for the rest of their life. Therefore murder is bad. Not able to determine good or bad without religion - give me a break?
