Worth the money?

Given that VirtualBox is as powerful, fast and free, why would anyone pay the $150 average price?

XP mode exists today

VirtualBox can do XP Mode today on more than just Windows 7, and without requiring hardware support.

It would be good for El Reg to compare and contrast the MS offering (Darth Vader's Federation) with VirtualBox (Luke Skywalker's Rebels), esp wrt performance and device capability ;-)

The Palm Emulator

If you download the SDK you can run the Palm Emulator on your WIndows/Mac/Linux PC to get an idea of how the Pre looks and feels. It uses Sun VirtualBox which is free and Palm installs a pre-configured vm which mimics the Pre.

VirtualBox

In your list of Sun IP you missed out VirtualBox, a real diamond.

Sun does Virtual Desktops too

You're right that Sun virtualizes Servers, Storage and Networks, but it also does Desktop Virtualization too.
